Amy, so sorry about your kitty furbaby. Yes, they do have a piece of our hearts. They seem to work their way into a special part of it all their own.

So I let myself get down to the wire now and today I have lots to do to get the spare room/ sewing/ crafting room ready for my brother in law to use when he gets here this week. It isn't permanent but I don't know how long it will be before he finds a place to move into. I need to continue downsizing but that will have to wait for now. I am such a procrastinator sometimes. LOL!

I am so sorry about you fur baby Amy. It is always hard when they go over the rainbow bridge. I sure have missed everyone, but with harvest, the garden going crazy, enjoying my family and various other obligations there hasn't been much "extra" time to be online. Hugs to everyone!

Julie~ we certainly understand but it so nice to hear from you when you can pop in.

Darlene~ I managed to get things straightened out in the spare room.
Decided to clean dad's room today and get some book work dome in the office so I feel like I did get some things accomplished.
Just need to finish up some odds and ends, run a couple errands and start supper.
Break time right now but I have to scoot.

Hope all is well with everyone else and they are all just busy.

Hi everyone. I am so sorry about your fur baby. It is so sad because they are part of the family. I made a Paws and Claws pic album of all the animals I have lost over the year. I still remember their names. Years ago we were living near the lake of Toledo Bend and some how a little squirrel fell in the bedroom from above. Terry said the mother pushed it because it was sick. I took care of it for four days when it died. I buried him by a big tree on the bank of the cove and I named him: Little Runaway! I cried that day. I wrapped him in a piece of baby blanket. I think about him.

Shannon am thinking of you and baby.
Darlene I have been watching about the fires, horrible!
And thinking of all my sweet sisters.

We have a young couple moving in just up the road. They put in a modular home. And they put fence up around 20 acres. They will have horses in there. And glad people that are moving in are country people.
Shew it has been hot here. I am so ready FOR FALL. WELL YOU'ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!!

Hi every, and thank you all for your sweet words. It took me awhile to start recovering. I had her for 15 years, and even though she was very sick, I still wasn't quite ready to say goodbye. But I am glad she's not suffering anymore. I really miss her, though.

Marlee, your story about Little Runaway was so sweet! I'm a total sucker for any animal, so I can really relate. I feel sorry for people who don't love animals, they miss so much!

Denise, hope you're enjoying your brother-in-law's visit. You deserve a break from all that cleaning out!

Darlene, are the fires in your area contained? From the news reports it sounds like some places are doing better. Hope you're in one if those places!

Shannon, hope you're settling in and you and baby are doing ok. Any news on the sale is the house?

Julie, it was nice to hear from you. I figured we wouldn't hear much during harvest time. You must be so busy! Hope it's a good harvest.

I got some well-needed laughs reading about everyone's adventures with the autocorrect on computers. I've had some very naughty near misses with that! I try to remember to always read through before posting or sending anything.

I did get to see my BFF's new grandbaby, and she's gorgeous. Today I need to get myself back to a little more normal schedule (whatever that is!). Started the day off with a trip to the dentist, so it can only get better from there :) Hugs to all!

Happy Day!

Amy thank you so much for your sweet card, I appreciate that. I understand about old beloved kitties, Both the kitties that passed away this summer were well over 12 years... They just grow on you. I keep calling my one kitty LuLu, I still miss her.

I had an interesting morning rescuing a beautiful big dragon fly. It got caught in the post office yesterday and couldn't get back out, anyway I went there this morning and out it came again. I had a long duster and tried to get it to go out the back door but it had to fly all over and bonk it's little head on the wall and got into so spider webbing and got it around it and flew all over with it on it then it got down lower and was trying to get it off. These bugs are amazing, anyway it flew behind this cabinet and I was able to get it out of there and it was kind of stuck to the pole because of the web. so I got a little stick after I took it outside and was able to help it out of the webbing. so then it flew up and got into the webs again. I then got it cleared and was able to get to fly up away finally.
It was beautiful and big. Black with aqua colors on it.
It was about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. I really love those bugs.

hugs

Shannon, So glad you have had showings. Hopefully the market will be picking back up again.

Darlene, I think it is wonderful you were able to help free the dragonfly. We have a lot of them around here and they are beautiful!

Still working in different areas of the house to downsize. I managed to get a lot done in the bedroom yesterday so I am hoping to finish up in there today. How did I manage to accumulate so much stuff?? Any way, Dave is arriving late tomorrow night. He will be here for a while as he will be scouting around for a new place to buy/rent. At least I have his room in order. Just went into the basement to put some canning jars away and I am glad I can shut the door on that stuff. LOL! At least until I get everything else in order here. Some days it is disheartening because I know how much I have gotten rid of and yet it seems like there is still so much more.
The weather here is gorgeous today so at least it helps with having to do what I need to.

Hello everyone,

Doing a bit of catching up. Things here at the Prevost household are moving quickly.

Denise, we are also doing a bit of purging. With Pumpkin headed off to college, it's a good time to get that done. Some of you may have experienced some strange thing with the henhouse website. Glad that Brian was able to quickly resolve the issue.

Shannon, good luck with the house listing. I'm sure you will feel some relief when it finally sales. How are those contractions coming along?

Bonnie, congratulations to your hubby for placing well in the fish competition.

Amy, glad you were able to catch up with you BFF and see Saorise. I love Celtic names. Pumpkin's name is Celtic. Had I had more children, they would have all had Celtic names. lol

Julie, fully understand about the business. Glad to see you pop in for a wee bit!

Marlee, good to see you. The horse will certainly add to the beauty of the scenery.

Darlene, thinking of you and keeping up with the news. How far are the fires from you?

Winnie, Auto correct certainly has a sense of humour! lol

Weekend is here and I am so looking forward to some down town. Pumpkin is in Montreal (dropped her off last night) spending the weekend with my brother. I may just forego any work and just sit and read! I'm beat! Didn't sleep much last night. yawn!

Keep well everyone! Hugs!

Enjoy your down time Carole! I did experience a bit of trouble getting to the henhouse but wasn't sure exactly what was happening. Glad Brian gets us back up and running again.

Alicia, I've been thinking of you. I sure hope everyone gets through it soon at your house. Hugs.

Worked in the bedroom today getting things sorted and bagged up. I am ashamed to say I have one big garbage bag full of stuff to be donated and most all of it came from my desk. Wow, I am such a pack rat. Not anymore. I have one small area to finish and then I MIGHT venture down to start on the basement. That will take me quite some time so I need to make sure I have a clear days on my calendar.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Good Morning everyone! It is good to hear from you , Alicia, and I am sorry that your children have all been down with mono. Hopefully everyone is getting better and soon !! Take care and you get some rest too!!

Denise, it sounds like you are having a very successful "StuffReductionCampaign" this Summer! You go Girl and keep up the good work!!

Carole, I do hope you have some lovely down time this weekend too. Such a busy Summer you have had!

Darlene, how are the fires in your area? I hope things are contained and calming down. Such a terrible and frightful season California is having this year!

Bonnie, I love that your hubby won the Koi competition! It is fun to see them have such interesting passions in retirement, isn't it?

Julie, I always think about you this time of year driving tractors, bringing in the harvest on your farm, and getting your garden bounty put up as well. North Dakota is a beautiful state!!

Amy, you have been so bombarded lately with much in your life. I hope your days are getting a bit more calm and less stressful. Losing a fur baby is hard!

Marlee, always great to hear from you.

Shannon, how exciting that your house keeps showing! Exposure is the key and hopefully it will meet someone's wish list soon!!

Yesterday we took down wall paper in our foyer and hallway. Lawsy Mercy what a long day it took to get if off! We were working for 6 hours straight and never again will I use wallpaper!! Today my hands and back are so sore from all the scraping and scrubbing. We have an offer on a smaller house and if it goes through, we will need to sell this place post haste. Our realtor told us to get the wallpaper off because it made the house entrance too dark and it would turn off people. Okey, Dokey, no problem until you start trying to remove the paper and some areas are welded to the wall. Grrrr!!! Anyhoo, it is done now and ready for paint.

Talk about downsizing, we have lived here and raised our family for 31 years. This new place will be much smaller so lots and stuff will have to go. Until we get a signed agreement, I am not going to worry about anything. If it happens, there will be plenty of time for stressing out!!! LOL!!! Meanwhile, my hands need to recover from yesterday!!!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the info on the henhouse site, Carole. Must have been a cyber Fox that got in and caused a little ruckus! Hope your daughter has a nice visit, and you get some nice rest.

Alicia, hope everyone at your house is starting to feel better. You must be exhausted.

Denise, good for you, keep it up! You're inspiring me to start cleaning out again. It can get discouraging, but it's worth it.

Darlene, I'm missing my Buffy something awful. She was the queen of the house. Isn't it amazing that such a small creature leaves such a big hole in your life?

This has been a trying week for me on several levels. Long story short, it became apparent that I can't leave my mom alone in the house anymore. She usually goes wherever I go, but once in a while I need a little me time. So we're looking for someone to stay with mom one day a week to give me a little break. There are lots of agencies that provide this type of thing, but finding just the right person is going to take time. I feel guilty sometimes, too, but I think it's the right thing to do most of the time. I just want us both to be happy.

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the end of summer!

Happy Day!

Good Morning everyone,
After a week oh high 90 and 100 degree weather, I am finally enjoying some cool air and the windows open. It was 58 degrees when we got up this morning and drizzling. The cool weather, moisture and the promise of a few days off is most appreciated. We finished harvesting durum wheat this week. The air conditioner went out of my tractor Wednesday and it was 96 degrees out, it did not take us long to get on the phone to get a technician out to work on it. We will now have a huge harvest break until the soybeans are ready. Corn and sunflowers will follow and we don't expect to be truely done with harvest until close to Thanksgiving. I really hate when things get so drawn out. we will be helping our son-in-law with his harvest as needed.
Today will be spent at a benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction, it will hopefully be a good turnout due to the cooler weather. It will be nice to see our neighbors and visit instead of just waving at them on the road and reading a note from baskets of shared garden produce left on our door steps. Yes zuchinni is one of them, but I only have one plant and that isn't producing all that well so it is very appreciated. One of my donations for the auction is a couple of baskets of assorted homemade pickles canned in my "free time" lately. I found a couple of really cute wire baskets at the thrift store to put them in.
Amy I feel for you with your mom. We are going through similar issues with my Mother-in-law. Up to now, she has live in her own home just a few miles a way with us checking on her several times a day, me doing her meals and taking her to her appointments and shopping. But her memory has gotten so bad we do not feel that this is safe for her any longer so we are looking for someone to stay with her during the day. We do not have resources available around here for that, so have put the word out that a job is available. We have gotten several calls this week of interested people, so we will work on that this week to get someone put in place.
Best get the rest of my chores done and get ready to go. Have a great Sunday everyone.
Hugs
Julie

Hello everyone,

Presently sitting outside enjoying some much needed down town. I am taking a business online course, so that's been keeping me on my toes. Did some catching up this morning.

Alicia, thank you for popping by. I've been thinking about you. Hoping everyone is back to health soon. Please do not forget to take good care of yourself.

Julie, good to see you. I'm with you on fixing that a/c in the tractor! No fun being hot and sweaty! I didn't know you harvested sunflowers. I have a small patch of sunflowers and they have been picked over by the birds. Seems kind of early for that. Any pickled beets in that basket? I'd place a bid! lol

Winnie, not a wallpaper fan myself. When you do that kind of stuff, you become aware of muscles you never knew existed. Well, maybe not you since you're a nurse and you learned about that stuff. lol Down sizing, will you remain in Florida?

Darlene, you never told us how things are going? Are you okay with he fires and all?

Amy, "me" time is important. I do hope you find someone soon.

Denise, looks like lots of progress is taking place on the down sizing front! You go girl!

Presently 83 with not a breeze in sight! Still outside enjoying this weather. We've had so much rain (not a complaint) that I feel the need to sweat it out! lol As for my pool, I did not have a chance to enjoy it. DH did something to it and it was 1/3 empty when I woke up. It is now empty and he's sleeping in the dog house! lol

Enjoy your day everyone!

Hi Carole,
The fires at moment are winding down there was one that was in the Redwoods last week but I think they are containing it and I believe the others are doing better but a lot was lost in them.
I think the ones up North in Oregon are not good, they are scarey! All is doing ok here and I would like some down time but not going to oh well continue on.
I appreciate all the love you all have given. Thank so much for caring.

You all take care of yourselves as well and Carole don't burn your brain out. ;D

Good Sunday afternoon everyone,
Sounds like all of us have been busy. Dave got in at midnight last night. They took his stuff to a storage unit this morning. Been unloading his car into my family room. I am hoping it makes it up to his room by this evening.

Julie, You make me tired just reading all you do. Glad you are getting a bit of a break.

Carole, How nice your are taking online courses.
I majored in business and it has been very helpful in doing the books and such for JT.

Winnie, Some years back we removed the wallpaper in our kitchen and I told JT we were leaving up the stuff in the dining room. It could stay there till it peels off by itself. LOL. What a job!

Amy,
Having dad here I sure understand about needing time. Usually I take Saturdays when the guys can be home with him. Not every Saturday but sometimes if they get home early during the week I will take an hour or so and go by myself.
It really does help to recoup a little bit.
