Is that a lot of calves for a cow to have? I don't remember or didn't pay attention probably, but I loved teaching the calves to drink from the buckets. Sometimes it was fun, sometimes quite messy when they weren't getting it. I had a dwarf goat on the farm. His name was Max. He was a bunch of trouble from the beginning. Lol.

No, it's not unusual for a cow to have that many calves. They usually have one every year. It is unusual though for her to have that many heifers calves. They usually have a mix of bulls and heifers. And I agree - sometimes it's quite messy trying to get a calf trained on the bucket LOL! I bet a goat would be quite entertaining :)

Look who arrived a few days early:

She's a spunky little one! Her mama came in for her grain during milking and I told Nathan since we were leaving we should probably go ahead an pen her up. The baby was born before we even left!!! She wasted no time in getting up, getting some breakfast, and running around. I wish we could post videos on here. I got a really cute one of her running around her mama then under her LOL! I love her speckles. She even has little ones on her nose:

The first littler of kittens I found. 3 solid black ones and a grey and white one. Not sure where the second litter is yet, but I know the mama kitty had them somewhere LOL!

The new baby girl:

We should have another one any day now. She's already 3 days past her due date.

Found this little one in the yard when I went out to get the mail. Of course I had to take about 20 pictures LOL! You'd think I'd never seen one before :)

So much cuteness how can you stand it? Farm life seems so rewarding with its ups and down. But what fun!

We were surprised with another heifer calf this weekend. Not from the overdue cow though! This one was a week early. Perfectly healthy and both baby and mama are doing well. Mama is a first timer - one of Foxy's granddaughters but has taken to being milked very well! I'll post some pictures soon. I believe tonight is the night for our over due mama. Although I thought that last night as well LOL!

Last night was the night LOL! A BIG baby boy this time. He's currently warming up in my laundry room. I'll try and get some pictures uploaded off my camera tomorrow.

Whew! It's been crazy busy around here. We've been putting in 16 hour days making hay and getting it home. Finally finished - 356 bales.

This is just part of them. I haven't taken any picture of the stack since we've been done.

We've had a few new babies as well. Here's the fellow that was in the laundry room:

He's HUGE! He just barely fit between my washer on one side and the dryer on the other side. When he stands he's as tall as the dryer!!!

Here he is out in his hut next to the baby girl that's older than him! Look how much room she has in her doorway above her (on the left) compared to how much room he has left in the doorway.

And I think the computer is telling me I should head to bed since it's 11:30pm. It won't let me upload any more pictures right now LOL! I'll have to show you the rest of the babies tomorrow.

My hubby and found quite the surprise living under our barn shed last week…

We were able to snag all of the babies and their mama. They are currently in my craft room…I’m sharing the space! :) In about 10 days, mama will go in to be spayed. Once the kittens have all found their forever homes (not in my house…I already have 3), she will be put back outside. It was unexpected but has been fun. But I had forgotten how much work kittens can be!! :) lol

Karen - if we lived closer I'd take that orange one! Somehow we don't have any orange ones.

I set up this nice little bed for these kittens to try and keep them contained a bit (their eyes aren't open just yet) and what does mama kitty do? She keeps putting them in the bed of the truck, under the tool box beside the fuel tank. Every time we go some place we get them back out. Shortly after we return she puts them back in LOL!

A little after 4 this morning Jasmine (one of the cows) was sounding the alarm (bellering like crazy) which woke us up since all the windows in the house are open. Then we heard poor Lucy moaning. She had a big baby girl. She's one of those cows that just makes a lot of noise. Everything was fine - she had the calf out by the time I changed clothes and got outside.

The sunset one night we were stacking hay

Isn't this the neatest kite!! As we were trucking hay from the field home we saw this is the sky. I was so glad I had my camera!!!
