I'm glad you take the time to enjoy them Dianna!

Perfectly said Karen - I love baby season too!!!

Debbie - When she was born it was snowing here and very windy and felt more like the Dakota weather than Ohio weather :) We've named so many of them you never know how a name will come about!

LOL!

Pepper is looking mighty uncomfortable. She's a first timer so it's hard to say for sure, but my guess is we'll have another baby in a day or two :)

This is mama Pepper. As you can see she's almost all black.

Here's her baby:

Not a great picture because she won't stop running around LOL! And as you can see she's mostly white. My mother in law suggested I name her salt, but it didn't fit her. As I was feeding her I asked her out loud "what goes good with pepper besides salt?" Then it hit me! Everyone loves pepper-oni LOL! So, Oni it is. I asked her is she liked it and she jumped around. I took that as a yes :)

Did you notice the little heart on her chest:

She's soft, but cuddly is not the right word for her LOL! She's quite a spunky little one. If she's sleeping you might be able to cuddle with her. Otherwise she's running around you or trying to eat you! Her and Dakota are a lot of fun. Dakota loves her neck and chin rubbed. She's a bit more cuddly but she tends to kick when she's running around so she's a bit more dangerous LOL! Less than a week until the next one is due. I'm thankful it's an older cow that's already trained to the milking parlor :)

Still waiting on Foxy Lady to have her baby. She was due yesterday so it shouldn't be too much longer. In the mean time here's something to make you giggle (at least it did me!)

Story time :)

This is Foxy (her real name is Foxtrot, her mom was Jitterbug LOL but I usually call her Foxy Lady):

Foxy is the red one (#129) and the black one in front of her is one of her daughters Fiona (#193). Foxy will be 8 years old on May 1. She just had her 7th calf a couple hours after I took the photo. Before this calf she had 6 heifer calves. I looked through the records and of the 64 ladies we have on the farm 15 of them are Foxy's daughters, grand daughters, and one great grand daughter. We're just getting into calving so those numbers will change later this year but right now 23% of our herd comes from Foxy! She's a great cow so I'm happy with that! I was however a bit sad that this time she had a bull calf. It's quite ironic though - something was a little backwards with the seventh calf (being a bull instead of a heifer) and look at him:

a big backwards 7 on his face!!!!

I'd like to tell you he's a big sweetheart like his mom, but the first thing he did when I tried to see if he was hungry was jump up hollering and run from me LOL! After he realized I was feeding him not attacking him he calmed down just a little bit. Over the next couple feedings he's decided I'm alright LOL! We usually keep one bull calf a year for meat so he's going to stay here.

The next one is due in a week.
