Since it's so hot here already, we are starting to enjoy some of our summer favorites. Tonight we baked a tomato pie and fresh peach crumb bars. Do y'all have any favorite summer foods?

Ooo, Laura….those sound delicious!! I love cold salads during the summer…bbq’d chicken salad, pasta salad, potato salad. Homemade ice cream and strawberry shortcake are always yummy, too :)

We do lots of salads in the summer. Greens, potato, pasta. I like to keep things light. I'm so happy to see watermelon available! My favorite summer treat!

We have been enjoying salads and watermelon too. I also love gazpacho - there is a recipe in one of Susan Branch's cookbooks and it's a favorite. Since we were away most of March, we didn't do any spring planting. We are working on clearing all of our beds this summer and plan to plant veggies in the fall. Next spring we are hoping to plant native/pollinator beds. Since we are already so hot and can only water every two weeks, I figure it's better to just wait.

We enjoy our favorites too such as salads and especially tomato, onion and mozzarella cheese with an olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon vinaigrette. Just a simple meal but cool but easy. We also avoid the oven at all cost and grill out a lot too. Oh yes we love watermelon as well.

Our Soup Sundays have turned into Salad Sundays! I’ve been pinning lots of recipes! We grill a lot in the warm temperature weather. :)

My favorite summer food is a cucumber fresh from the garden! Love them :)
Nathan loves BLT's but I'm not a fan of raw tomatoes so I just have a bacon sandwich lol!

Karen - would you be interested in a recipe? My mother in law makes a broccoli salad that's wonderful with some grilled chicken added to it. It uses the shredded broccoli not whole broccoli.
