I'm not sure what Audrey's involvement in the war is yet. I'm not very far into it and it's mostly about her mom so far. I'll let you know when I find out :) 640 pages seems like a lot! Especially if it reads like a history book. I prefer the personal story than just facts and figures. Are you reading books written in the Spanish language or are they Spanish themed books?

The personal story does seem to be more compelling and memorable, doesn't it? This Spanish book club reads and discusses in Spanish (I mostly listen to discussion and maybe read one carefully composed thought I had about the book if I am asked directly-- I am far from fluent). Fortunately a lot of the titles they choose have English translations, so if I'm short on time or struggling with reading comprehension, I will "catch up" in the English version, which is most of the time! But it is fun to see and hear people speaking, I am starting to make out the different accents based on where people came from which is really fun, and they are very patient with catching me up on slang that I don't understand.

Whew, I think I have a couple almost done badges to work on and apply for today. Thanks for the motivation!

Way to go Chris and Fallon! I finished my book, but I have to save it for the expert level. I didn't remember the part of the intermediate level that said "she" had to be from your country. Oh well. Reading another book isn't such a hardship LOL!

Adding 5 to the total!

So true, Heather. I'm in the same boat-- I will probably end up reading many more women's "biographies" than MJF intended to finish this series. They are all fascinating but not *quite* what the badge requirements call for. Personal Librarian is great, but starts in early 1900's and I need an 1800's lady. An American Beauty is 1800's but is more of a romance than a researched biography. But what was amazing as I'm working through Personal Librarian is the lady librarian protagonist actually has an exchange with the elderly Arabella Huntington protagonist from American Beauty (no mention of Arabella's family scandals though, sigh). The serendipity is so great, I can't help but finish this book too.

+2 more for the count -- Birds beginner + intermediate. If anyone sees my puzzle piece of an American Coot's hindquarters, please let me know. I'm not sure if I should leave the 999 pieces out until I find it or box it back up in hopes that this hastens its return. :)

How fun that your books are connected! I always feel like I should leave completed puzzles out for a while. I hope your missing piece shows up soon! Way to go on more badges.
