Posted - Mar 11 2013 : 8:47:35 PM Ok, I am stumped,,, what is this? Is it a meat tenderizer by chance? or?

The funny thing is, it looks (from the back) like it has been used as a hammer...lol! The handle looks to have been hand turned on a Lath.... anyone seen one of these before?

Posted - Mar 23 2013 : 7:37:09 PM Believe it or not, I just saw a similar item and it was a fish scaler. I don't know how big your item is but this one was about 3 inches plus the handle. I doesn't look like the fish scalers my dad used but this was what they called it.

Posted - Mar 13 2013 : 12:05:52 PM Looks like a spanking paddle my momma used! Just kidding, it was only a little wooden spoon, but the way she would swing that thing, felt like it had metal teeth! Ouch!

Posted - Mar 12 2013 : 12:08:30 PM Hello,
I think is looks like some type of grooming tool maybe for animals. Love the idea of tying it up with some ribbon and hanging it as a primitive piece.

Posted - Mar 12 2013 : 12:05:12 PM Hello,
I think it looks like a grooming tool of some sort, maybe animals. Or something to do with fiber somehow.
I do like the idea of tying a ribbon or jute around it and hanging it up as a primitive piece.

Posted - Mar 12 2013 : 11:17:13 AM My guess was the same as Jonni's - something used for carding flax or cotton. It looks like a tool similar to what we saw on a field trip to Slater's Mill in Pawtucket, RI when I was a kid. It'll be interesting to find out! :) Good luck!

Posted - Mar 12 2013 : 09:07:50 AM Oh you gals are a Hoot!
So I guess we can agree to disagree as to what it is... lol!
SO I am thinking I may have to put a ribbon around the "Big Foot' brush and hang it by my bed in my wee lil trailer, so if an intruder tries to get in, I can beat him senseless or make him brush the mud off his boots! lololol!

Posted - Mar 12 2013 : 07:59:51 AM My guess would be an ice shaver. If it was a lot older, I'd say a sugar cone scraper.
