Bought this small painting a few years ago, and can't decide for sure what it is. What do you think?

Looks to me like what Tina said --- a church built from barn parts which also functioned as a school. Is it a real building or just folk art? Neat painting though!

Not sure what Flemish would look like. You are right MB, IT may be a revenuers decoy.

It probably had a still in it and was adorned with churchy and schoolish things to throw off the revenuers. It looks flemish. Is it? www.strawberryhillsfarm.blogspot.com

Hubby said that it was a school house during the week and used for a church on Sunday's. It is very beautiful.

That's hilarious Jenny! It's a nice painting Nancy. Just a mystery, to be sure.

Judging from that stockade fence, it also appears to be fortified against enemy attack ;)

Looks like a barn to me. I have seen some in the country magazines that look something like that Pinkroses

very nice painting, perhaps as mentioned it served as at least 2 of those..I think it's possible that it was both a church and a school..made from barn parts..ha.
