Posted - Jun 26 2010 : 07:55:06 AM A friend called the other day with a question I could not answer and I told her I would ask here.
She has a 3 year old doe that kidded a year ago in April. Something happened and they dried her up in Aug. She said she is real skinny but is developing an udder just recently. She has milked her a little and said it doesn't look like colostrum. She does have a buck but NONE of her does were bred. So no kids at all this year. Nothing. So I have no idea. But sometimes goats will produce milk without having kids and can be milked for years like that. She just might be one.
So I was wondering if anyone has heard of this or know what could be causing this to happen. Maybe she is coming into heat?
