Posted - May 20 2007 : 04:44:33 AM Robin, just read your message today about Miranda. I love the doll, and I can't believe you actually had the time to handmake a doll in addition to caring for your little one. Did you recieve the one I sent you? I forgot to add delivery confirmation to the package and I hope I addressed it correctly. |

Posted - May 10 2007 : 08:14:19 AM Jess, I have one pic of the dolls you sent Linda and her doll. Carmen sent it to me already! Plus one of her with Forsythia. There will be no last names or addresses or even cities listed on the site. Just pics of the dolls and the first name of the person who made it and the recipient's first name.
I have to check but I think it was 14 so far...(just guessing)

Posted - May 10 2007 : 08:06:42 AM Erin, thanks for doing that. How many dolls ended up being swapped? It seemed like quite a few. I will have to go back and count. p.s. If Carmen used our home address for her/your dolls drivers license, will you make sure it does not make it to the internet. I am a little cautious in that way.
Linda, I can send Erin pictures of your doll and the dolls I sent you, if you do not have pics. If you do, by all means send them to her. I will try to do that later on this afternoon. Thanks...jess |

Posted - May 10 2007 : 07:58:08 AM I can build a page for posting the dolls. I have a website with plenty of extra space sitting unused.
I may be able to go "pick" up images if you already have it posted somewhere - just send me the URL.
For anyone who wants to email a pic of their doll - just send me a .jpg file. (Send it to THIS email addy as this account has a bigger inbox... eomeara_smith@hotmail.com)
If you know how, please reduce the size of the image to about 3 x 4 inches. If you aren't sure how to do this, that's ok. I can fix it here. Please send it as a .jpg file, otherwise it may be too large to email.

Posted - May 09 2007 : 7:39:40 PM Can we organize a place where all the swapped dolls pictures will be posted? I would love to see the creative flow. We have seen a couple of peoples. I think Erin has both her dolls on her blog, and a few people have posted pics here. Can we choose a common place and all post our photos together? Does this sound remotely appealing to anyone out there? |

Posted - May 08 2007 : 10:07:29 PM Oh, Erin...Carmen will be so delighted to hear you received Forsythia Root...the garden girl. Carmen never says her name without it being followed by "the garden girl." She was growing worried that it had become lost in the mail. I did not have the heart to tell her she had not been mailed the day she thought she was. I am so glad you like her. I like her, too. Carmen is planning to clone her. I would tell you all her plans, but I am sure Carmen either already has told you or will probably tell you soon. I am just glad to hear she arrived safely and the swap is complete. She loves that little baby and all her littler friends. They are all snuggled in with her when she sleeps. She has told EVERYONE about this swap, you, her doll, your doll, all the goodies, hats, pig, EVERYTHING!!! She is so excited. Thank you so much for being her partner and letting her be a part of this swap.
Linda...my package is not nearly as colorful, sorry. I think my boys did put big sticker faces on it though. I guess you should be receiving yours any day now. You have been so patient. Thanks! I am sending the patterns to you over the weekend. Hope you have fun with them. Jess |

Posted - May 08 2007 : 4:38:37 PM I got my doll from seven-year old farm girl Carmen today! (I'll post pictures sometime over the next week or so... She deserves a pretty outside setting and I want to wait until it dries up a bit around here to fully show her off!)
The doll's name is Forsythia Root and she is a vivid garden girl! She has the cutest clothes made from fabric in hues of every color (like the flowers that she loves) and has dark blue, teal and purple long wavy hair pulled back with bright colored clips and stuffed under a gaily hued crochet beret made by Carmen herself.
She sports a flowery dress, lots of jewelry, rainbow-striped stockings, purple velvet boots, an eyebrow ring and the biggest, softest heart I have ever seen! She carries a small bright purse of orange and yellow, with a sculpey cell phone and even has her own lipstick! And the lipstick matches exactly the shade she is wearing! She also comes with her very own Indiana drivers license, complete with picture.
She came with a huge red bucket of goodies - a kit for making peanut butter birdseed pinecones, a bluebird whistle, lots and lots of duckie stationery, a farm themed puzzle book, and lots more. Carmen also included lots of treats for the kitties and a bone for my dog Brindi!
The box she arrived in is also the biggest brightest package I have ever received - I overheard the mail man say that it was the most impressive package he has ever seen! Anyhow, the box was decorated as a bright green colored flowery school bus, complete with orange butterflies and yellow flowers, and brightly colored tires.
This is so impressive! The care and detail is amazing, esp. for an seven year old! Carmen did not forget any detail and I am sure I will keep discovering more and more wonderful little details over time... Each time I look at her, I find something else! How much fun!!!
There was so much in this package that I know I won't remember everything, but it was totally wonderful! Thank you so much Carmen!!!

Posted - May 06 2007 : 10:46:56 AM Robin,
I received Miranda on Friday. The box was on the floor by the front door. She's so pretty. I have no camara, so I'll try to describe for our readers:
Miranda is a "child" doll that has black hair that to me looks curly, green eyes, a beautiful green dress with trim across the dress, the buttons are vintage (you know how I love vintage!) pearl buttons. The pantalettes match the dress. The doll has beige skin, Robin mentioned in her letter that she has never really seen a "beige" person. I have (my ethnicity comes in all colors) and I love her. My son saw the doll and he said, "The doll has your hair" (which I gotta agree with him, she does.)
I will send you the doll I'm making on Friday, and while I was in NY I picked up a little something for your daughter which I'll add to the package.
Thank you so much for the beautiful doll, let your daughter know I love the green eyes.
