anyone out there need a purebred Great Pyrenees. im moving and she needs a home. i dont want to leave her and i cant take her. im so distraught. please let me know if anyone has a good home for her. keep in mind GP's are night time barkers and not good in cities. as well as running and my dear Annabelle is in fact a runner. she likes horses i dont know about other live stock.

thanks , Tina

Tina,

Have you found a family to adopt your baby yet?

Did this puppy find a home?

Hmmm did they send an email? I'll have to think on it , ive been a little bit of a money tyrant penny pinching fiend since i decided to move. Did you let them know about her food aggression? don't take that lightly. I only say this because she is so big. and she doesn't have house manners because she is an outside dog. she will let me know if anybody or the possum is messing with my chickens. But shes smart, she picks up things quick I was teaching her how to crawl the other day. I'm just trying to inform you because I want the best home for her and some of her issues.
thanks Joey I appreciate all the help.

Tina, I just checked with my daughter and she doesn't know if you talked to her friend about the dog or not. If I can help with this, please let me know.
Also, I've seen several folks want to take her but can't get her to their place. Just an offer: DH and I are not working now. We have a SUV and could drive her wherever she needed to go. You'd have to pay expenses but we eat cheap and can stay in our tent so the only big expense would be gas. That may still be too expensive but I thought I'd offer. I want her to go to a good home. I would take her in a heartbeat but I live in Oklahoma. Currently I'm in Germany but I leave Friday. I live on a half acre lot and have a big privacy fence up but would keep her as close to me as possible as much as possible. Right now I have not pets but that's about to change.

Please keep us posted on what happens. I LOVE this breed but my complex will not allow dogs. Hope she goes to a great home. Joey

We have a Great Pyr rescue in the Atlanta area. They are an awesome group of Great Pyr lovers. Wishing you and your "baby" the best! Praying she finds the right "forever home"!

wow cali. and you have experience. my sweet "beller beller cindereller" (i now the nick name is silly, but it makes her tail wag)would like that. she is very playful she may want to PLAY with the chickens. she has no idea how big she is. feed her away from other dogs though, people are fine i can stick my hands on her and in her bowl and she doesnt flinch. i always handler her food so that she knows my scent. read it somewhere. just dont let the other dogs in her face when she eats. she gets snippy then. and if she even raises so much as a growl make a funny noise to interrupt her. i grunt and say none of that she usually stop then but shes a dominant and so is my lab so i have to supervise. but other wise shes good. little kids could put there faces near her and she would be fine.

Here's a link to an article I read in Out Here, magazine put out by Tractor Supply, about animal rescue that has a network to transport dogs. http://www.tractorsupply.com/content/magazine/spring_2011/spring_2011_freedom_train_animal_rescue might be someplace to start looking.

"Any way I can get her to Ca. ??"

I often hear about people taxing dogs across the country. There MUST be a way to have this happen! (I've been keeping an eye on this post and am SO hopeful someone can take this beautiful dog!)

Gosh I'd take her. I have a farm/ ranch, fenced large area- w/ chickens( she might need to get used to that) and horses. Other dogs, two male aussies. One vey old female who now stays in bed in the house most days. Any way I can get her to Ca. ?? I took care of four great pyr's for their first four years at work. I love the breed and have been wanting to get one.

She is BEAUTIFUL! We had a Pyrenees several years ago but she died having puppies. Many other dogs (mostly "Heinz 57") since then!

Tina,

I just thought of this:

http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/

It is a homesteading message board and they have a thread for LGDs. Maybe someone there may be interested? I hope so.

Have you tried contacting a Pyrenees rescue group? Google breed rescue and see what comes up under Pyrenees. PA is a big state and there's bound to be a rescue group.

i hope so too. thats all i want for her. there will be no adoption fee. I naturally thought of my sisters first. i have a high respect for all of you.Hope, pray, and still keeping on praying. but i think you guys would be the last people to hurt her. shes part of my family and i do want her to be loved. I also think she needs something to do. Shes not a proven LGD but whenever my horse gets loose does she let me know! all night! bark, bark, bark! only i never understood what she was saying until my horse was by bedroom window just looking at me. then i knew what she was telling me. so perhaps given time she could be an LGD. shes certainly smart enough.

She is so beautiful! If I lived closer and didn't have our dog I would snatch her up. I hope you find a good home for her Tina.
