Posted - Oct 12 2005 : 10:31:41 AM A website for farmgirls?! Excellent!
Howdy, all, my name is Renee, and I'm a farmgirl wannabe! I'm 32, married w/ 3 sweet children, living on a 1/3-acre lot on the outskirts of a small town in SE Michigan. My DH says we live in the country; I say "no, we don't!"
I grew up in Colorado, on the outskirts of a larger, university town and boy, do I miss the mountains. We had a big, empty field to the south of our neighborhood (okay, it probably was farmed, but I never knew who owned it), and another to the east, with a creek running through it, that the neighborhood kids all played in. Both areas are now developed--lots of houses and two public schools. I miss them too.
However, I'm very excited to have found this website/forum board! I'm sure I will find lots to talk about here. |

However, my mountains aren't as big as your mountains in CO, but they're mountains, nonetheless. I'm so glad you found this great place....Welcome aboard! Lissa www.cabin-rentals-of-georgia.com

Posted - Oct 12 2005 : 11:09:32 AM Hi Diane! Yes, I do knit, but that's not where sock_heaven comes from...it's actually a song by my all-time favorite musician, Steve Taylor, the chorus of which is: "One pile waits with their God in a box/The other pile nervously mocks heaven/Misfits lost in the dryer, take heart/Maybe there's a place up in Sock Heaven"
And yes, I did grow up on the southwestern outskirts of Fort Collins!
What would the world be, once bereft Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left, O let them be left, wildness and wet; Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.
