A website for farmgirls?! Excellent!

Howdy, all, my name is Renee, and I'm a farmgirl wannabe! I'm 32, married w/ 3 sweet children, living on a 1/3-acre lot on the outskirts of a small town in SE Michigan. My DH says we live in the country; I say "no, we don't!"

I grew up in Colorado, on the outskirts of a larger, university town and boy, do I miss the mountains. We had a big, empty field to the south of our neighborhood (okay, it probably was farmed, but I never knew who owned it), and another to the east, with a creek running through it, that the neighborhood kids all played in. Both areas are now developed--lots of houses and two public schools. I miss them too.

However, I'm very excited to have found this website/forum board! I'm sure I will find lots to talk about here.

Welcome Renee.... of the many socks? You must be a knitter? Hope you enjoy the forum, there is anything you want to discuss or learn here!
Did you grow up outside Fort Collins, my favorite town?
Any who, glad to have you on board.

Hi Diane! Yes, I do knit, but that's not where sock_heaven comes from...it's actually a song by my all-time favorite musician, Steve Taylor, the chorus of which is: "One pile waits with their God in a box/The other pile nervously mocks heaven/Misfits lost in the dryer, take heart/Maybe there's a place up in Sock Heaven"

And yes, I did grow up on the southwestern outskirts of Fort Collins!

What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.

Gerard Manley Hopkins

Hi Renee! Isn't this just the GREATEST??? I love MJF and I love the mountains, too!! However, my mountains aren't as big as your mountains in CO, but they're mountains, nonetheless. I'm so glad you found this great place....Welcome aboard!
