Posted - May 24 2010 : 6:38:31 PM Hello, Everyone-
I just joined after I discovered Maryjane's magazine and website through the list of references in the back of Made From Scratch. I'm really enjoying learning all about homesteading and self-sufficiency these days, because even though I live in an apartment in a small city, my recent financial difficulties have really started to teach me the value of simplicity, making do, and providing for yourself as well as the courage and optimism it takes to face want and struggle.
I've always valued these ideas in a more abstract sort of way, but they are starting to really come home for me now, and I am learning how to trust myself and find my inner courage and the ability to be joyful and light in the face of adversity. I think that this forum and the Farmgirl Connection really do honor those things.
I'm looking forward to learning from all of you, and hopefully to being an official member of the Sisterhood when I can afford to do so.
Thanks, Sara |

Posted - May 26 2010 : 4:24:19 PM Thank you! I'm already loving it, and I think that I'm going to get so much out of this, and I'm hoping that I'll also discover that I have a lot to offer to others as well, maybe even things I don't realize I have to give. |

Posted - May 26 2010 : 4:22:17 PM Yes, actually! My training has focused primarily on working with children who have special needs and disorders on the Autism spectrum, and those are the populations I want to continue working with in the future.
I think it's so interesting to see how treatment teams of different types of therapists can offer holistic care that can be so flexible and well suited to each individual child. |
