The Warm Heart Story

During a series of personal crisis that cascaded on our little family over the course of a weekend, I found myself without a car, and with reduced income. I knew I had to run errands such as going to the store for milk for my daughter, Nora and going to the bank about 2 miles away to deposit our paychecks. It was cold and cloudy. I worried about how to keep Nora warm in the long walks outside.

Then the idea of the Warm Heart Dolls was born. A doll that could be a child's favorite play thing, beautiful, well made and all natural materials. Something that would be sturdy enough to be played with, and yet a cherished item to be kept forever. And then a secret inside. A removable bag that could be warmed inside the microwave to slowly release it's heat inside the doll giving your child a friend with life like warmth for play and a snuggly friend to help keep warm on car trips and walks outside. Our dolls with embroidered hair are also ideal as a way to keep infants warm inside their cribs or bassinets

Meet Luna! She is the oldest sister of the A Warm Heart Clan. She has the most amazing head of hair that you have ever seen! She loves to dance and play in the flower fields and always brings back a bouquet for Mama!

Alee, Can I order one?? I thought I'd wait and get one for a shower gift, but since it just keeps snowing and snowing around here. Stella needs a warm heart doll with all this cold weather we keep having!! And the thought of keeping her warm with something handmade by you sure is comforting. I am headed to your website.

Hi Luna-

It is the stuffing/batting that I put into the dolls. I will look up that thread as I would much prefer to pay less than $12 a pound :D

This is my first year raising my sheep so I don't have any of my own wool yet to sell but I plan to in the future. Do you buy the natural color or the dyed colors? Rovings or batts? What do you make with it? Lotsa questions, I know. I would love to have available what you and other farm girls might want. Weir is expensive. You might want to buy directly from other producers. I had a thread going last month about this and there were a number of very knowledgeable spinners who had information on where and how they bought their wool directly from the producer.

Ooo! How much do you sell processed wool for? I buy it by the pound from Weir Dolls, but it is frightfully expensive. I would love to support a fellow farmgirl!

Not to worry....that little touch of imperfection is what endears me to things hand made. Check out my blog sewing table. The little doll that I just made from wool roving has arms that are much too long. I'm working out how to fix them. Or maybe not. I'll just have her hold something!

You'll have to forgive my sewing on her little apron. Nora did something to my machine that I can't figure out and the stitches got a bit loopy.

Thanks, Luna!

My Luna (this could get confusing) is the oldest sister (as previously mentioned) and you know that parents always make the most mistakes on their oldest child. But I love her for all of her quirks :D She says she could go home to someone for only $15.

Her younger sister is almost ready for a picture to be taken. But she wanted her hair combed first which can take a while.

Nora keeps trying to snag the girls, but I have to tell her that I will make her one next! One of my nieces was trying to convince me to give her one over Easter for her birthday- which isn't until June! LOL

What a lovely idea. She is so sweet looking and of course I'm gonna love her name and being a gal with brown hair who always wanted more who loves to play with flowers and gardens...I'm totally captivated.
