Those needing it most probably have no email to see this but my prayers go out to the sisters and their families in the states hit by this weather. Here in Arkansas we have had the flooding and the threats but it passed over our area without touching down.

The power of Mother Nature is amazing to behold. I watched that tornado go from before Tuscaloosa, across my sis and mom's neighborhood, across North Birmingham and through East AL to GA. The channel I watched had Storm chasers, traffic cams and weather cams follow it all the way across. It was awesome and terrifying to see the power of nature at work.

Like one of the weather girls said, "Seems like when a tornado occurs you always hear of someone who knows someone who was affected. This time everyone knows probably 20 or more who were affected in one way or another."

Sometimes it seems like what my son says is about right:
Ole Mother Nature is tired of our sh** and she's trying to shake off the pests that are destroying her.

We will never forget April 27, 2011. So many lives forever changed.
Thanks all for the well wishes and thoughts and prayers, and mine go out to so man others of you who were also affected.

I sure can't forget. It's still a mess here. And some people are still without power. But more than that, so many people don't have homes. ANd so many more have lost whole families. I keep seeing new things every time I go to town. It's still fresh here. It's been one week today. They finally started letting people go back to where the worst damage was here. There is an old house on a hill that was in the path of the tornado. I cannot believe it's still standing. Every tree all around it was just ripped to shreds. The house across the road is gone. But that hose still stands. It's a beautiful old house. It's just amazing what those tornadoes did here.

Teresa we wont forget. No need to apologize for venting.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. There are so many wonderful people helping and donating, but we need to remember that this will go on longer that just this week. bin Laden has already knocked the coverage down a bit, and in a couple of weeks, it'll be over, but these people still won't have a place to live or panties to cover their butts.
Sorry, just had to vent a minute.

Thanks to all of you so much, and prayers to all who need them.

Will y'all please pray for my granddaughter, Kansas, tomorrow? School is starting back at 9am and they are calling for thunder storms. Poor kid was scared yesterday when she saw some clouds rolling in. She and my other 2 grands were all at school when the tornadoes rolled in last Wed. They are all terrified of storms anyway so this does not make it any easier for them. The other 2 grands go to Dade Co. schools and they are closed indefineltey.

So please pray for the kids of Walker Co. that this storm coming through will not be bad and they won't be scared. I think they should probably have counseling for them, especially little elementart kids.

Susan, I am so glad you are ok. I looked at all the pictures. It's so sad. And I heard over 300 people are still missing from Alabama. Over 300 people killed. So sad.

Our power is up for now. Utilities have been sporadic so I'm putting this out here while I can. Thank you for all the prayers! The damage here in Alabama is horrific. The tornadoes just kept coming and coming, one after another. The tornado sirens here went off 16 times that day. My husband was at work at Huntsville Hospital during this time and was required to stay there while we (my son, me, and my two little Bostons) huddled under pillows and blankets in our home hallway for hours waiting for it all to end. Thank God we are okay and unhurt, but so many others have lost their lives...the last count I'm aware of is somewhere in the neighborhood of 355 dead. I believe at least 3 of the tornadoes that went through the state were classified as EF-5. At least one of them that I'm aware of was almost 1 mile wide and tracked for at least 16 miles. Those poor souls didn't stand a chance against 200+ mph winds from an EF-5. So sad!

Here are some home videos of the tornadoes. If you'll notice in this first video, there was one main tornado with other smaller ones dropping down from time to time out of the cloud:

Here is a shorter video of one of the twisters. This is one of the EF-5's that hit. This was around 3/4 to 1 mile wide and pretty much distroyed the town of Phil Campbell, AL. This is the same tornado that hit near my uncle's house in Hackleburg, AL:

A short video of a subdivision in Harvest, AL (near Huntsville). Totally unreal...

There is SO MUCH NEEDED here! It seems that the most needed items here are non-perishable food items, new socks and underwear (men, women and children), toiletries and personal hygiene products, towels, just about any baby stuff - clothes, food, formula, etc. Also needed are AA's, AAA's, C's, D's, 9V, and Lantern batteries are in much need for those who are still without power (about 60-70% of folks in the affected areas, as well as the Huntsville area are still without power). Please donate items if you are able Farmgirls! You can send items to me and I will take them to the local Red Cross or you can donate to the Red Cross directly:
http://www.redcrossrelief.org/

If you send items to me to give to the Red Cross, just click on my profile name on this post and send me an email for the mailing address. Gotta run for now, but I'll hopefully be back on later today!

The tornado that went through Tuscaloosa continued on into Birmingham after it went through the area where my sister and mother live. My sister's neighborhood was pretty well demolished. Her house and the 2 just past it seem to be the only ones left in livable condition. Most of the ones in the entrance to her street ( a circular road) are gone. Either totally torn down or piles of rubble. Huge hardwood trees down everywhere. All the small business on the main road are destroyed. There were fatalities in the area.
She is a nurse and had already gone to work early, knowing that storms were imminent. My 83 year old mom was home alone. She got into the linen closet right before it hit. (But only because I called and told her to...) The huge beautiful Jap. Maple in her front yard has the top twisted out, a holly tree down across her drive, all the crape myrtles are gone but one, the storage bldg out back is gone, trees and limbs all around her house, but seems to be no damage to the house itself. Same for the other two past hers. The ones across the street have huge trees on them.
She had to park over a mile away and sneak in the back way after she got off work yesterday morning. She was able to go in and get a bag each for her and mom. The officials had made everyone leave Wed. night because of gas from the destroyed homes. They're both staying with me until they're allowed back into the area. My sister went back today to volunteer at the command center since she's a nurse and retired Army.
Also had relatives in North Alabama have damage to their homes. Their power is out and don't know when it'll be back because it comes from Brown's Ferry Nuclear Plant, which was shut down due to issues from the storms.
Sending prayers and healing thoughts to all across the country who were affected by this massive outbreak of storms. We were blessed to not have more damage than we did and no injuries or deaths.

To me, a witch is a woman that is capable of letting her intuition take hold of her actions, that communes with her environment, that isn't afraid of facing challenges.

It gets so quiet after these storms go through. It is like a war zone, you can't believe what you are seeing. But, if you stay calm and take care of the basic necessities like eating and sleeping you get through it and before you know it your life is back to normal.

Don't isolate yourself. Stay with friends and family. Keeping support and helping others is really a great help to the nerves.

Having been through hurricanes my whole life living in Florida and bad tornadoes as well, my heart really goes out to these folks! We had four hurricanes hit us in 2004. I know what this is like. We've lived on generator's so many times up to 10 days one year.

I pray for those who are dealing with this natural disaster and hope they get the help and comfort they need.

Forgot to say that they are saying if anyone wants to help to give to the Red Cross and give blood. Those 2 areas are the worst hit in times like this. They run out of money and blood so fast. That's what they are asking people to do. And they are actually turning away volunteers in several areas.

We are ok!! My house is intact! However Apison has had 8 deaths, this is a very small town, the tornado was an F5. Houses were leveled, debris everywhere, we are without power, so we left to stay with my Inlaws. I am going to upload photos to facebook tonight. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!! I really means a lot.

I worry about the animals. Kris- Is there an animal shelter in the area? ( Many southern areas don't have one believe it or not. :( ) I'd love to send a donation to help take care of the influx of animals. I am horrified that many of them will be put down because owners have no home to take them back to.
