Posted - Apr 22 2009 : 05:33:09 AM I had several...even my MORP (Prom spelled backwards--I went to an Arts school..) dress was made by Scott McLintock (Jessica's brother) for Gunne Sax. I even had some vintage 70's Gunne's that I purchased on thrift. Michigan seemed to be a really good hunting ground for them!
Every Sunday, though, you could find me in a Gunne Sax dress and a vintage hat for church--no wonder I ended up at Art school!!!

Posted - Apr 16 2009 : 9:26:41 PM I too wore a GunneSax dress when I was my sister's Maid of Honor at her wedding, a very simple, small family & close friends event. My dress was off-white with pink tiny rosebuds print. I had sewn my sister's dress & made her veil so it was nice to indulge & buy my one & only G.S. dress. Oh how I wish I had hung onto it.

Posted - Apr 11 2009 : 03:26:27 AM cute pic, sharone! thanks for sharing.
when we were little,my mama use to make my sister and i gunne sax dresses (which we paired with cowboy boots). the test of a good dress was rather or not it belled out when we twirled in it. i've made a few for my girls too, but none of the super fancy ones like my mom did.

Posted - Apr 07 2009 : 1:40:42 PM After seeing this thread my daughter and I went over to eBay and now she is the proud owner of a vintage Gunne Sax dress. We were looking for a dress for her Coming of Age service at church and were pleased to find it...so the pressure is off me to make a dress before then.

Posted - Apr 06 2009 : 6:39:20 PM I was mentioning this post to my friend today. She is in her 70's & I am 60. We and our daughter's both wore Gunne Sax to church for years. My girfriend was the seamstress. I bought the fabrics & trims. She said she has way over 50 Gunne Sax patterns! Now her granddaughters are into them! I told her DO NOT get rid of them without letting me know! What a stash, eh?

Posted - Mar 23 2009 : 07:28:20 AM I have three Gunne Sax dresses hanging in my closet. Two are matching adult and child dresses that my mom and I wore when my grandmother and her husband renewed their vows way back when. The other one is a really pretty green one that belonged to my mother. I wish I could still wear them!

Posted - Mar 22 2009 : 7:14:07 PM I use to wear Gunne Sax dresses when I worked in a Pioneer Living History museum in Arizona back in the 70's. They were beautiful dresses. Truely made you feel pretty and femine. But I too am no longer a small waisted gal. Thanks for the memories.

Posted - Mar 22 2009 : 6:49:17 PM My senior prom dress was a Gunne Sax dress. I still have it, only it doesn't fit me any longer. It is made of muslin, was long (we cut the bottom tier off for my sister) and it had crocheted inserts in the sleeves. I loved that dress and if I was skinny again I would absolutely wear it! lol

Posted - Mar 22 2009 : 5:08:52 PM Mary Beth, I used to make Gunne Sax dresses for my daughter too - she's 37 now - and I was always so proud of them - even though they took an eternity to make. Some of my favorite sewing ever!

Posted - Mar 21 2009 : 9:58:58 PM Way back when I made Gunne Sax dresses for my girls. I think that did in my sewing for awhile. There were so beautiful--all the lace and ribbons and lovely fabric. I will see if I can find any pictures. MB
