Posted - Nov 10 2009 : 07:35:09 AM I admit it...I am a collector. Sometimes I find things from years and years ago and wonder why I never used it, leaving it to just sit and collect dust, but I can't bear to throw it away.
This is what happened yesterday, I discovered in my box of fabric remnants, several peices of random cotton fabric. One was olive green with black roosters on it, another was turquois blue with yellow swirls, olive with yellow swirls, a bohemian print that had darker blue and olive tones and a peice of navy blue lace. I also found an outrageous tiger print. So what did I do?
I made a patchwork apron. It is lovely. I have to say that all you really need is a 1/4 - 1/2 yard of each of your fabrics and you can make a top, a bottom, add pockets, a frill here or there and a neck strap and a waist strap.
Before, I realized I had any of this fabric, I realized I needed an apron for the holidays, it was a gift to find the fabric so I didn't have to buy an apron or buy material, because we are flat broke.
So check your fabric box, you can easily patch together a fabulous apron in less than a day, or two days if you have kids :) |
