Posted - Mar 22 2011 : 07:06:32 AM I made this dress a couple weeks ago...I think, especially with the hat, it looks very "farmgirlish!" What do you think?

I added some lace that I got at an auction...around the hem, sleeves, and neckline, but I didn't get any close-up pictures of that.

Our house is on top of a hill...you have to go down the ill and across a small pasture to get to the creek...but it's fairly close to the house. Not 1/4 mile, even, I don't think. It is so pretty down there...any season of the year! It's a nice quiet place to sit and think sometimes...you can't hear anything down there, nothing but the birds!

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! I was hoping to make another dress soon (going out of town this week, and I always get the sewing bug right before I go!) but there's now way I'll be able to fit it in.

Posted - Apr 10 2011 : 05:33:19 AM Very cute dress, Kayla! The floral print is so pretty - I love pinks and greens mixed. It fits you so well, and the length does make it look farmgirly - maybe a bit vintage too because of the print and colors.
Where you were photographed looks gorgeous! Makes me pine for the hills of Licking County, Ohio......

                Posted - Mar 28 2011 : 4:41:55 PM The pattern is McCall's 3129... http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=20069
When I made it this time (I've made it once before) I cut out a couple of inches from the front panel. The other one I made gapes a little too much in the front, and cutting that from the front really solved that problem. I have noticed that this dress, when made just like the pattern, doesn't have enough shape to suit me. I guess I'm a bit too curvy for the pattern! So, I tried on several times during the sewing an made adjustments...taking in the seams on the waist, that sort of thing. I need a smaller waist, but still have to have adequate hip space...yay. lol I like a more fitted dress, so I just pin and take in where I want. Other than that, the pattern is great! Easy, and fast...and with these little modifications, fits me nicely!
Thanks again for the sweet comments!
