This may be a dumb question, but could I make my own pastry cloth? What material does it use? I don't have one, and now that I am getting back into making homemade bread (sandwich etc), I would love to have one.

I have now used the pastry cloth twice. Once for pizza crust and once for biscuits. Worked like a charm. No mess. No sticking. Worked great.

I received my Oklahoma Pastry Cloth yesterday. Oh my goodness - the packaging alone made me smile. I look forward to my next baking day. And thanks for the handwritten note and the extra goodie package.

Had mine for 2 years, love it also. Its as good as new, been used lots. Love to shake it off and store in freezer. And I ordered the kit, and it came with lots of goodies. Great value and great product. Have not made it back to Oklahoma, was gonna try and meet up with MaryBeth, hopefully next time I go visit my sis-in-law, I can get in touch and make arrangements to visit or have tea.
Have a great week! Farmgirl #946

Now that I have been looking at the artisan bread books I got from the library, they all show pastry cloths! Ha! I made mine, washed them and they fit perfect on my counter. Thanks for the tip Curlysquilts...

I wanted to make something to fit my counter, and took the tip- went to JoAnne's and got some plain cotton duck. Will try! I saw a slab of marble at Ross (cheap) for pastry, etc. but this is so much easier to store!

Wonderful, Lillian!! Yay. You don't know how your comment pleases me. Cool. I always remind people that when they wash their pastry cloth, it will ravel until it reaches the stitching so just cut that off and be sure to hang to dry. You can iron it to make it crisp and flat, but ironing is not necessary. Thanks again.

I agree Mary Beth, your pastry cloth is wonderful. Much better than the store bought one I tried!!! I made a pie crust last weekend and last night I rolled my tortillas on it, worked like a charm! Any of you girls up in the air about this get over to Mary Beth's site and order one!

I finally got to use my pasty cloth for the first time. The day I had wanted to try it unexpected company showed up. I made my first soft whole wheat noodles on it. I was amazed how well it worked! I rolled out the noodle dough and turned it and rolled it again and absolutely no sticking whatsoever. I have made white flour noodles on the counter in the past and they always stuck no matter how much I floured the counter.

So I am sold on the pastry cloths. Its one of those things that comes along and you fall in love with the way it performs. I will use it everytime now instead of putting tons of flour on the counter and trying to scrape it all off when I am done. Thanks Mary Beth for making a fine product.

Linda, I am so excited about you coming to Oklahoma! It will be great meeting you. I am glad that you liked your OPC™ Scones gift set and look forward to hearing how your baking comes out. Oh, and that chili is a bit stout (hoooottttt) and so I use a can of diced tomatoes rather than the tomato sauce and I definitely add the corn and beans plus some extra water. The taste is absolutely awesome. A lady I know and her husband make and market the chili. The cornbread is made not to far from me.

Tina, I have a friend who totally quit making pie crust for that very reason until she tried a pastry cloth. She's my best sales person!! :-) She brags that she makes all her own pastries now.

I have never heard of pastry cloth. But it sounds so much better than rolling out your dough on the cutting board and having it stick! (I do use flour, but it still sticks!)

Happy it is, indeed, for me that my heart is capable of feeling the same simple and innocent pleasure as the peasant whose table is covered with food of his own rearing, and who not only enjoys his meal, but remembers with delight the happy days and sunny mornings when he planted it, the soft evenings when he watered it, and the pleasure he experienced in watching it’s daily growth.

Well after the dissapointment with the cheap one I had previously I wasn't going to buy another. You all have convinced me to give it another chance. My order will be coming today.
