I have a pile of sheets that have gotten just too worn out and stained looking for me to want to use any more and I happen to need a rug for infront of my arm chair… so I pulled out my fantastic copy of MaryJane’s Stitching Room book and brushed up on the instructions to make a rag rug! Pages 57 and 58 if you are curious! I think we might dye some of the strips first but I’ll try to remember to post pictures!

Please do post pictures! I have old sheets, too! They are just begging for a new life and don't want to be made in to rags!

Are you crocheting it? I learned to make toothbrush rugs years ago. Maybe yours is the inspiration I need to make more of them.

Denise what is a toothbrush rug? Is that similar to latch-hook?

Toothbrushes, were once wooden, and had a hole in the handle giving early rag ruggers the idea to sharpen a used handle to a point creating the perfect tool …

I’m working on making the strips right now! A lot of my sheets are plain white- so I asked my mom if she had any RIT dye… she did! Including a box from my Great Aunt Nora probably from the 70’s or early 80’s! It only cost #128178;.35! I’m going to use the dye because she would want me to- but I’m going to keep the box!

Sleep, that sounds so fun! I can't wait to see it. I will have to remember this for when I have some old sheets.
