Christina Kraybill (#8716, CKraybill) has received a certificate of achievement in Each Other for earning a Beginner Bibliophile Badging badge!
"During the government shutdown last fall, my husband & I went to the local library for a date night. We got our library cards, then spent the evening learning about all the resources we can access there.
I have returned to the library a few times to check out books but I’m currently working on reading through my current unread pile of books that I own."

Christina Kraybill (#8716, CKraybill) has received a certificate of achievement in Farm Kitchen for earning a Beginner Get It Together badge!
"This task was accomplished in preparation to move our household. I recycled a lot of “orphan lids”, ultimately decided to go all glass except for my freezer boxes.
It was a breeze to unpack in our “new-to-us” condo."

Tina VanDaam (#8437, TinaTina) has received a certificate of achievement in Farm Kitchen for earning a Beginner Cheesemaking badge!
"I earned this badge by making yogurt and buttermilk. I know that in order for it to turn out you need to watch the temperature of the milk and make sure your containers are clean.
This turned out OK. I wasn't sure if I liked the taste of my yogurt as this was my 2nd try (1st time it didn't thicken) maybe due to a variety of reasons and I made buttermilk out of the milk and vinegar and I also got the buttermilk after rinsing the butter and used it to make biscuits."

Tina VanDaam (#8437, TinaTina) has received a certificate of achievement in Stitching & Crafting for earning an Intermediate Sew Wonderful badge!
"For this merit badge I did a straight seam by hand and machine. I knew this stitch. I didn't know the French seam or the Flat felled seam. I watched videos and did some practice pieces until I felt comfortable doing them.
The switches turned out good and I used different colored bobbin and top color so you could see the stitches. I like the French seam. The straight stitch ...I taught my son to do this because everyone needs to know a little sewing."

Susan Ownby (#8450) has received a certificate of achievement in Stitching & Crafting for earning a Beginner Crochet badge!
"I made dishrag dolls for a sister and for a friend. Taught my husband to crochet.
The dishrags were a great hit, and won a first place ribbon at the North Idaho State Fair.
My husband made a wall hung holder for his shaving supplies. It came out very good for a first project, but he said crocheting was too much work, so he won't continue it as a hobby."

Susan Ownby (#8450) has received a certificate of achievement in Farm Kitchen for earning an Intermediate Self-sufficiency badge!
"Canned apple pie filling which won a ribbon in the North Idaho State fair. Canned tomatoes and tomato juice with which I made spaghetti the following year. Pickled several fruits and vegetables, several of which took ribbons in the fair. Gave home grown and canned pickles as Christmas gifts.
Won many canning and drying ribbons in the fair.
Pickles were a big hit with family members.
Successfully made sauerkraut on the second try. :)"

"I embroidered a set of samplers, and framed them in embroidery hoops. I wanted to learn to embroider my badges, and I learned so many new stitches!
Hanging on the wall of the craft room. Together they say "Enjoy Your Life". Am anxious to make up all my badges now to put on a tote!"

Candy Hogan (#8283, Tigger9777) has received a certificate of achievement in Make It Easy for earning an Expert Carp-hen-try badge!
"On May 4, 2025 I was gifted a 20-foot office trailer. I decided to make it into my She Shed craft room and office.
This would get my stuff out of the main house and then give a bedroom to our 3 year old granddaughter who lives with us.
I started with a thorough cleaning. Removed all outlets, light fixtures, switches, fuse boxes and of all things, a time stamp employee box.
Then I removed a ton of nails and staples. I filled with caulk and sanded. I had to fill a bad corner of the wall with different types of products, nothing worked well. I also used spray foam insulation and a reciprocating saw to cut the excess. Next I gap filled the panels with spray paint. Sanded all the walls and wiped them down. Finally I painted everything a crisp white.
My plan is to repurpose my house luxury vinyl planks when we redo our house flooring in March. The used flooring will go into my 20ft She Shed, my 40ft conex shipping container and the extra will be donated to the Grange Hall lobby and bathrooms.
It has been a long process, more than 9 months, but after getting the desk and chair inside, I am all moved in. Still sorting some boxes, but it feels good to be done.
Glad it turned out nice."

Amie Wright (#8717, AmiePrairie) has received a certificate of achievement in Stitching & Crafting for earning a Beginner Sew Wonderful badge!
"Hello Lovely Ladies, on Feb 1st I was having a wonderful conversation with a long time friend about this awesome group I've become a part of and she asked about the different badges. I remembered a challenge for February a sister set for our chapter and asked if my friend has a sewing kit. She said NO ! Which didn't surprise me; she's not the hands on type. I offered to put one together and mail it to her in Louisiana.
She was thrilled I told her about a few other badges and got off the phone to start collecting supplies. I have a sewing kit as do my two teen girls, between all 3 of us I found an extra pack of sewing needles, a thimble, tiny pair of scissors. And a pack of tiny bobbin threads in a wide variety of colors. I put together a bag of colorful buttons (a common must fit item) and a paper tape measure from Ikea ! I went to the store and found a 3x5 two drawer box that fits all the items perfectly and a pack of safety pins.
This afternoon 2/17/26, I was able to complete my project by mailing my dear friend in Louisiana her new hand sewing repair kit. I'll follow the tracking to see it gets to her through this rainy weather. I'm excited to help her get familiar with the included items."

Amie Wright (#8717, AmiePrairie) has received a certificate of achievement in Cleaning Up for earning a Beginner Shopping Green badge!
"Good Morning Ladies, with California's move to ban plastic bags, the grocery stores are only offering .10 cent flimsy brown bags for carry out groceries. This rainy season is perfect for me to make the green switch to reusable heavy duty bags. I've collected a lot of them during the gradual transition. I've put 10 in each of my cars to make sure I always have a green alternative to bring home my supplies.
It's been a struggle to make sure my bags get put back into the car after unloading in the house. I've missed a handful of times but have established a healthy habit of putting the empty folded bags back in my purse (with my car keys) RIGHT after I put the groceries away. I can't delay or procrastinate; that's where my master plan falls apart."

Christine Kenney (#8680, bellepic) has received a certificate of achievement in Outpost for earning a Beginner Geography badge!
"I've been using the Seterra app to quiz myself on countries, states, and capitals.
I also read John Noble Wilford's The Mapmakers to learn more about the history of cartography.
Blog summary is posted here: https://steamstead.blogspot.com/2026/02/geography.html
If you forgot a book, Seterra is a great app to visit when you are on the go and encounter a delay.
If others were working on this badge, I would encourage them to give themselves permission to stop at around chapter 15. The following 10 chapters are interesting but are more about recent history and potential future of map-making."

Christine Kenney (#8680, bellepic) has received a certificate of achievement in Outpost for earning an Intermediate Geography badge!
"I have cultivated a relationship with a penpal in Poland for the past 4 years and have added my Spanish brother in law's address to the address book for future correspondence.
We also planned (and went) on a trip to Barcelona last month.
The full write up is posted here: https://steamstead.blogspot.com/2026/02/geography-201.html
This trip was educational and architecturally inspiring. Jetlag is no joke though, so we are now motivated to explore more of the Americas where we can hit the ground running and continue to improve our Spanish."

Christina Kraybill (#8716, CKraybill) has received a certificate of achievement in Cleaning Up for earning a Beginner Going Green badge!
"I went through all of my cleaning products and replaced dishwasher pods with a Seventh-Generation option + found a green option for a bathroom cleaner.
I went searching for a local business that I could source healthier products through. I discovered "LivWell" nearby & I am thrilled.

I have begun my Green Journal & look forward to adding to the journal over time as well as sharing it with friends as opportunities become available."

Tina VanDaam (#8437, TinaTina) has received a certificate of achievement in Make It Easy for earning a Beginner Emergency Preparedness badge!
"I earned this badge by talking to my family and getting a game plane of what to do for each emergency that I listed and talking about our community may need help. If we were able to help our neighbor we would. So we have their phone numbers on hand
This badge made us think ....because there isn't a black and white plan - each emergency may have different instances."

"Grew radishes and carrots.
Both were good. Large crop of radishes shared with sisters. Carrots more reluctant, and not as large as I would have liked."

"Grew turnips, onions, and beets.
Researched and stored a lot of produce from the garden.
Turnips and beets came out very well. Had trouble with onions, and only got a few.
Filled garage shelves and a deep freeze with produce.
Ate on some of it into the next spring. So Fun!"

Susan Ownby (#8450) has received a certificate of achievement in Stitching & Crafting for earning an Intermediate Crochet badge!
"Learned how to do magic circle and chainless turns.
Spent 4 days at a craft retreat with my sisters. Crocheted a pair of fancy slippers while I was there working with other crafters.
Magic circle is great! So are the chainless turns, but I still have to look them up when needed because I don't often need them.
Had a great time at the retreat. Slippers were much admired, and took a first place ribbon in the North Idaho State Fair."
