Count me in Bev! Whatever we all do is good for me. I am busy during the week and have a hard time keeping up with the threads, but will do my darndest to find out what is going on. I am so excited about this whole thing.

I too, love the idea of the wolf in apron clothing! She howls away the hours doing whatever needs to be done, whenever she feels like doing it! LOL That would be me now that I am working every day until nighttime.

Great idea!

Bev,

Sorry you feel so uncomfy about extending your name for the chapter name..it just fits so well and as you said, "We have all shown up here for a reason" and for some of us it wasn't about an apron. You may have started this topic as an "Apron Sew Along" but it is so much more than that.

So I will stay with my vote for "Bee Haven Maven's" and all the goodness that it represents. Instead of letting it be uncomfortable for you...let it honor you instead.

As for the chapter patch....one of my ideas would be a woman with a flowing dress with arms raised and reaching for the moon and stars and even have a "bee" silhouette in the moon.

I love the ideals that you expressed however. I am all for safe havens and working in cooperation like a colony of bees....I just really want everyone to feel an attachment to our chapter name....unless of course you all feel the same, in which case I will go with whatever the group wants. I am feeling an attraction towards the she-wolf idea.......I like the feel....the female who can be tender and nurturing and yet on the other hand never completely tamed.......OWOOOOOOO!

Hmmmm I dont know about this Los Loco Lobo It reminds me too much of a biker gang

wolf
The crest of a wolf has been granted to valiant captains who served loyally through long sieges or hard enterprises. It signifies valor and guardianship. Wolves were viewed as ferocious and merciless and it was thought that they could paralyze their enemies with a look before destroying them. The bearer of this symbol was a deadly enemy to have. Early wolves were drawn very crudely and do not resemble the animal very closely so later representations are preferred. The head of a wolf is particularly common in Scottish heraldry.

bee
The bee is a sign of industry, creativity, wealth, diligence and eloquence. The Egyptians used it as a symbol of regal power. In armory, it is used to represent well-governed industry. The Emperor Napoleon gave the bee considerable importance in the French armory by adopting it as his personal badge. They also appeared on the mantle and pavilion around the armorial bearings of the empire, as well as on his coronation mantle. The bee is undoubtedly the most popular insect found in heraldry, and even the beehive occurs often as a crest.

What about a Bee, tea pot and a treadle machine?

Stephanie,
I like the bee thing instead of the wolf. Of course I'll vote for the teapot and treadle.
As for the fabric I think the bee and clover is great and blue is definitely my pick. I am fair skinned and blonde and yellow is definitely a no no. Pink would be my second choice but I look terrible in it. Makes me look washed out.

I think it would be nice to find a name that would encompass all we do and if Bev feels uncomfortable using her name then we shouldn't put her in that spot. Of course, I don't have any ideas at the moment but I will think on it.

well.. I LOVE the Idea's!!
All of them.. i REALLY love the thought of us all banding together to form our own Chapter..
We may as well.. we've been doing it unoficialy anyway.. right?
So this way.. as Bev is setting it up.. we'll have a bit of structure.. some guidelines.. & set some goals for ourselves...
& YIPPEE SKIPPY Patches!!!
Stephanie.. I kind of think i know how your feeling about the Denim Jacket.. your wanting to stear away from those short waisted tough little Denim jobs.. But think about this.. A thinner one.. that's actually longer.. & has a couple large pockets on it.. ?
See what you can come up with.. i actually have a few of thses.. They are alomost a bit dressier.. i wear them to work when it gets cooler out..
i do have to agree with Bev on the Nixing of the Name though..
SHE is THE " BEE HAVEN MAVEN " This Is BEV... We can't All Share her name.. even to say that WE are to become the Mavens..
No.. It just doesn't seem to be what we are..No, this is Bev.. not us..

I Do like The She Wolves..
It seems to need to be Cleaned up some.. Like E. said.. something about that is a bit off yet too..

We Are Apron Maven's With out Border's ..

How can we can incorporate this with the She Wolves.. ?

yes...i like steph's ideas..but that whole bee haven maven's thing might be odd overall. hmmm...my local chapter is "Farmin' Artists" ...when we started, we all were girls with gardens and we were all artists in our own right. I yhink for the most part all of us still are!

So, hmmm...a name for our chapter without borders..."wild she wolves"...what can we come up with?

well..we are a bunch of fabric hos..what are we gonna be girls?

So sorry....wasn't my intention to put Bev on the spot but to compliment her on the direction that this topic has become since she is the author of it and so many enjoy being a part of it and now that she's started a chapter it was a natural in my mind to name it the Bee Haven Maven's...

And I'm definitely a "Maven in her own Haven" and love what the Bee represents...wasn't trying to tromp on Bev's toes nor take away from her identity in any way. Sorry what I meant as a compliment was seen as a negative. I don't believe Bev saw it as a negative..at least I hope she didn't.

I do like the teapot and treadle idea in addition to the bee

Again..Sooooo sorry...going to the end of the line now....

Lets stay away from anything too corny. I would be happy to do the logo as soon as we decide on a theme... or I can pull one of my graphic design friends... I would prefer to have it look professional. Jess, arent you a graphic designer too? BTW I do also have 2 extra color laser printers.... I would be happy to donate one.

I love the fabric choice, I do happen to have 5 yrs of it already.... No I am not going to share.... but we can try to get more. I am sure that the company I contacted would be happy to sell me 100 bolts of it.

I do think Teapots and treadles happen to be a common theme here... and I have always like what bees represent, community, hard work and rebirth.

I love bees also. My favorite book years ago was The Secret Life of Bees!! I made bee fabric bookmarks for all of my friends who were reading it. I like the the bees, fabric, teapots and treadle idea as much as the wolf idea. Bee wolves in search of fabric. LOL This will be a fun time for all.

oh steph..i hope you did not think that because of my response..i am with you in all your philosophy. and yes elizabeth..i am, i will think about this...i have avery funny logo in my head...a bee in an apron treadling away with a teapot on the folded out tabletop. but it could be any other thing, too. i agree it should not bee too corny! i will keep thinking. keep talking girls you provide lots of food for thought! where is georgann? i bet she will have the perfect way to tie all of our ideas and philosophies together into something perfect, with the perfect name and then she will write a nice little poem about it that makes all of us feel warm and fuzzy. Sorry steph I hope I did not offended you earlier...jess

Hey Jess,

No, you did nothing!!! It was another reply...I was not offended...but it was as if I was being told that I was offending Bev by wanting to name the chapter after her..LOL

Very odd indeed...everything I say here is always meant to be a compliment and I always want others to feel welcome at all times...I just all of a sudden felt a surge of negative energy and very unwelcome...

But I'm just that way...I pick up on energy alot of times when no one else does...I love the topic, the personal relationships I've developed and the good energy that's here.

You know what it is? We are just writing in a sort of stream-of-consciousness here and sometimes the remarks seem clipped or "curt" but no one ever intends to be negative or unwelcoming. It's like people just throwing out their every thought and sometimes it seems like something it's not. This happens at work sometimes too, but eventually we all say to one another, "Just what the heck was that last comment about anyway?" The person who said it is usually like, "What comment? What are you talking about!" And then we all just laugh because it was obviously nothing meant to hurt the others. But if we didn't mention it, then it would fester and the other people would have no idea what we were upset about.

I hope you all have the BEST weekend! My dh (and he is the dearest, I mean it!:) and I are going to clean house tomorrow and then on Sunday we are going to the closing day of the Renaissance Faire upstate (about 2 1/2 hours from here). It is supposed to be a great day, so I am excited about it. Gotta get into the axe throwing competition again. I love that!

oh Steph it was me then..
I'm so sorry Sweetie!!!
I didn't mean to upset you!!! or ANYONE!!

no Sweetie..
I don't mean it negative either.. At all..

i just mean that BEV her Self.. is THE "BEE HAVEN MAVEN"
So by us all using that as our chapter.. & our names.. It takes away from her farm.. I totaly agree with you.. in the direction you were..
I Adore Bev.. & i try to model so much of what i do after her & her idea's & the way she does things too..
the whole "Maven" thing sounds like a Great Idea.. & even the Bee or Hive fabric.. Just not her name.. since yes.. it's Her..

I mean we could do somethimng like "The Busy Bees.." as a shoot off of Bev.. or "Haven Nation" something from Bev.. but just not BEV's entire name.. I can see how she wouldn't have wanted it either..

Not that i'm liking either of these names though.. i just used them as an example.. i'm with Elizabeth.. nothing too corny.. We have a Chance to come up with something so cool.. let's do it ..

I really do think that do to this particular thread.. How our Chapter really did originate.. I think we do need to include "Apron' " in there somewhere..

but.. i'm really truly just one voice..
I am perfectly cool with what ever we decide as a group..

So sorry if i've upset or offended anyone!!

Love ya Girls!!
& You Stephanie.. my girl!!
Don't you be upset with me..

Wahya Sisters Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, ok....I'm getting carried away. Just my suggestion, but it does carry such power, such, such personality...........I guess my Native American heritage is coming through here! LOL.....I'll go with whatever the Apron Pack decides on! Love ya'll.

Kathy,

It's OK!! Really..I promise.. You didn't offend me....I respect your protective nature of Bev and her farm name. Lots of folks would be open to such an idea so that's why I threw it out there.

Everything is ok...
