Bev,

I'm just tickled that I could come up with that pattern!
I hope the pattern will get here by this time next week. Still waiting for a confirmation on the shipping date.

Oh and by the way, I'm in the floor throwing a fit over not going to NYC to the fabric district tomorrow..That is on my list of dreams to fulfill one day...I will be there in spirit!!

Naomi,

Hey girl, I'm so glad you are loving the idea of the Artful Apron thingy..LOL I started the Challenge and Swap several weeks ago. If you want to officially sign up for it go here:
www.dreamkingdomdesigns.com/artfulapronswap.html

Then you can be in the pot for the drawing I'm going to have..Will be giving away a bundle of fabrics and other untold goodies. You don't have to swap the apron..you can just post a picture of it and it will become part of the Challenge area!!

I got home so late that all I've done is have some decaf coffee and catch up on the group. /And I've realized that I did loose a chunk of pictures when my harddrive died last month..WAAAA..untold number of them gone..So I've got to take pictures of fabric again before posting..

Thanks E-,

I'll go check out the book...I know you posted a link this morning maybe about a site where a lady is showing step by step making a dress?? If you can post again..or I'll go search back in the pages..

Man, we need this topic to be indexed with all the important links that have been shared..maybe I'll work on that.

alrighty...here is my "artful apron" its not entirely like the ones you make Stephanie...but..it is only my first one...so....

and last but certainly not least....the rag quilt...I'm gonna say its about 5 foot by 5 foot...maybe 6x6(but I'm doing the math, and it looks like 5x5)...I havent measured it yet to be 100% sure on it...haha

so on the apron...i used yarn, pink, green and yellow, for the flower, stem, and bee, the black on the bee is seam binding cut in half and frayed on the edges for a fuzzy appearance...the green on the bottom is a kind of cheesecloth type fabric...sewed it on the bottom as one piece with a blocky zig zag a guess..then cut the fabric betwen the sewn up areas...(hard for me to explain that...haha) also..the sun(big yellow circle, hard to miss) is a pocket...its simple...but cute...and i guess not to bad for my first arty apron...I could do better I'm sure...way cool ones like what Stephanie does eh?:P
oh and the wings on the bee are ribbons, folded in half w/ small pleat...

Ditto on the standing ovation!! I never thought to mix up the size of the rag squares! That is just stunning!
And the apron is so darn cute ~ simply charming ;)

Hey Naomi,

Ooooooohhhhh! That is so precious The beauty is that no two aprons are alike. Whatever is on your mind is what creates the theme. I'm going to do one with the theme of "Random Thoughts"...This one may need to be a full apron..LOL

Love the Rag Quilt....I made Miss Morgan, my yorkie for those that don't know, a ragged edge shirt and diaper out of barkcloth..I'll have to post a picture of it. What fun it was to intentionally fray those edges.

E-,

Thanks for the link...

Jess,

Did you find the one you have in progress? It sounded to me like it may be a "Random Thought" theme I love having this area to talk and share so much useful information. It's like a modern day "sewing bee"

Bonne...just a note..if you want to hurry up and get a rag quilt done...dont start out with 4 1/2 in squares for the middle...I used 64 and only got a square 32x32....aaargh....hahaha

Nice apron Nay, it is so bright cheery and friendly. I dont think I should ever make one.... It would probably end up being very macrab.

I am going to make a bunch af aprons out of the pumpkins... I may need to get some more. What do ya think? Full Farmgirls or Half frilly's? I have 3 yrds of each.

Now that's a neat set of aprons to save the picture of
just to cheer oneself up!

Thank your Dad, Naomi, for the link to the old patterns.
It's interesting just for the historical value~fun to read too.

Still catching up....

Bonne,

I've been laughing over the conversation about people renting storage rooms for their fabric ......because that's exactly what I intent to do when we move to Nashville...LOL Unless some exceptionally priced real estate steps forward I will save 10's of thousands on a house by leaving my fabric in a storage room and having just a room in the house for machines, etc. plus a normal stash of fabric..LOL

What's normal?? I've never know that So I figure $85 a month for a climate controlled storage room will offset quite nicely since real estate costs so much more in that area. This way we can actually look at cottages with 1200 square feet instead of needing 2000 to fit all the fabric in and possibly $20,000 to $40,000 in savings on the house purchase..LOL

Sharon,

I'm glad your hubby is clearing out his stuff. He needs to know you need All the extra space for fabric, machines, dressform, ironing board and all the other goodies that go along with it...LOL

Jess,

I feel your pain concerning your mom! I've got one very similar..doesn't understand how I can "know" anyone that I meet online or why I bother sharing my life with "them"...OMG!! It's so negative. She lives two hours north of me so there are not frequent visits. When I hang up the phone I burn my best lavender incense and wipe my phone down with lavender EO I immediately feel so much better.

Katie-ell

I'll start taking pictures and posting some of my stash soon! I had tons of pictures on the harddrive that I lost and just knew I had them copied to a CD....NOT!!

It's past midnight....and the owl (me), haha, and the kitty will be getting busy here shortly..will check in later to see who's still up.
