Stephanie -- Do you wash the barkcloth? Or dry-clean?? (I'm hoping to be able to wash in cold water . . . ) Do show and tell your stash! I'd love to see it. I picked up one piece of Waverly sort-of-toile this weekend, 1 1/2 yards, literally at the side of the road. Someone had put all her garage sale leftovers on the curb with a 'free' sign. Oh, yes, I stopped! So that's one more piece for my stash. But you-all have me aching to go to a real fabric shoppe tonight. Or should I work on my purse?? Hmmmmmmmm.........................

Ok gals,
My daughter has given me some good ideas for the fabric so I may or may not have some left to give.
Will let you know when I get this done.
Thanks and I'm keeping everyone's name who wanted some of it.

Just checking in quick before hubby and I head out to Tractor Supply and JoAnn's....my two most favorite stores.....I cannot tell you the last time I actually stepped foot inside a clothing store......eons ago.....I figure at this rate, I may end up wearing nothing but aprons from now on!

Oh yea....I did sew a tote bag today.....

A friend called today and asked me to go to NY City tomorrow with her for the day....train ride....woohooo......I am searching out the fabric district. I will report on what I find tomorrow night.

Have a great day tomorrow......love you guys!

E...do you mean my snail mail or my email?

Oh, and Bonne, you described it perfectly...New Age Renaissance GoddessWear!! This one is realllllly full of energy. Every stitch!! I found the perfect sweater to go over it and a tank top and I think it would be stunning over jeans!!!!!!!! Believe it or not. That is what I am feeling for it. Oh and also over a mango or violet colored chemise!!

Finally got home!! Chiropractor is great..I'm so much better I picked up two books at the library on making Ren clothing. There are pattern piece drawings that you have to size up.

Love those Teapots!!! So much energy there

Katie-ell,

Everyone may make a big GASP....But I machine wash ALL of my fabric yardage (vintage and modern). Plus this way I can find out if the vintage is still strong and worth using in a garment or if it's more suitable for collage work.

I figure most folks would prefer buying something they can care for easily. So I prewash all fabrics (modern and vintage) regardless of what is recommended and if it comes out looking decent..it goes in the "to use" area. If it destroys it..well I'll use it in collage work or something else.

Yes, folks will tell you to dry clean barkcloth, silk, chintz, etc. Yes, dry cleaning will preserve the crispness of silk and the sheen of Chintz but I prefer the soft supple feel of machine washed silk, the chintz does loose some sheen but I rarely use chintz and barkcloth machines washes like a dream...AND THEN throw it in the DRYER...GASP. OMG!! It may ruin it..LOL It comes out just fine and then whatever I create from it can be washed and dryed with no surprizes.

The collage aprons can't be machine washed due to too much handsewing, beading, charms, ribbons, etc. They will either need to be dry cleaned or spot cleaned or hand washed if need be.
