Hi, I'm Peg Graham, currently living in Chesapeake,Virginia...soon to be somewhere in North Carolina (close to Duke, possibly Wake Forest area) as soon as we can sell our house here!

I have always dreamt of living on a farm, in a lovely old Farm House, with a huge farm table in the kitchen...growing pumpkins and peaches, making homemade bread and jams, growing a garden and canning. I 'might' get that chance, if I can find the Farm House in NC...and afford the price.

Anyways...I'm married to James and we have a total of 5 children, 4 living with us. James' work is in computers...he's a Systems Engineer, far from Farming, I know. Not like I want any huge farm...just enough for me to get my 'skirt in the dirt' and grow organically.

Hope to meet all of you and share ideas!

Jenny- I learned to can when I was about 11. We lived in New Jersey and went to a local Peach Orchard and local farmer's garden for tomatoes and green beans....canned until my elbows were red from squishing tomatoes (but they made the best spaghetti sauces). Pop made food storage shelves in the laundry room for Mom and each day we'd eat something from what we canned.

Mom also had a wheat grinder and ground her own wheat to make gluten and bread....my favorite thing was smelling fresh wheat bread, hot from the oven and putting peanut butter and honey on it! Yum!

Never had any farm animals....but when Bergy's Dairy was in full bloom, we'd visit weekly to watch the cows be milked (4:30am and 4:30pm), buy fresh milk and other farm fresh items. (I do have 3 cats though)...hehehe.

Welcome Peg, I'm over in the Richmond area of VA. Came from NC in 2000. My hubby is a computer guy too. We are working toward that dream of a small farm ourselves....lots in common, but I only have 3 kids, 2 at home.

Again, Welcome and I hope you get your skirt in the dirt soon!!
