After enjoying the website and enjoying the information provided in the chat rooms I decided to join and stop by to introduce myself. I am truly a corporate farm girl. My family and I have recently moved onto 5 1/2 acres on top of a mountain in south east TN. We have 24 chickens ( one is a pet named Tiger but that is another story) and a pigmy goat. You can wonder down the stone paths and enjoy the various vegtable and herb gardens we planted this year. Eventualy you will end up by the setting by the creek bed surronded by flowers and trees while listening to the creek babble. I am actually living my dream. The other side of this is that I am a international sales and marketing manager that drives 2 hours each way to work and I get all the headaches that come with that.... BUT I get to go home to my slice of paradise everyday. My husband & I have 5 children 27, 26, 23, 22 & 17 ( I tell everyone I started having kids at 13 [:). Our 5th grandchild is due in August. My husband stays home takes care of things when I travel and makes sure things run smoothly during the day. Hobbies include kayaking, hiking, cooking, herbs, gardening, & reading. We have lived everywhere from log cabins with no electricity and a tub outside under the stars ( the ONLY way to really bathe!!) to a high rise apartment. The farm girl heart has always been beating loud and clear. So HELLO to all. I look forward to knowing you better

Hello from southern Kentucky. I have been to your beautiful part of Tennessee to a craft show. The drive there is beautiful and the people in Pikeville are wonderful. If we come back this year I will let you know. I know you are going to love it here, lots of wonderful people. Kathy

Hey Tamara,
Welcome to the group! You will find that there is always alot going on around here
You are about 1 1/2 hours north of where I live..I'm in northeast Alabama at the base of Lookout Mountain about 45 miles south of Chattanooga.
I go right by you on the way to see my dad and mom! My mom is from Crossville, Tennessee and they moved back there about 2 years ago. My dad was born in Nashville and I call that town "home".
I'll be moving back to Nashville in the next 2-3 years...can't wait!
Hope to hear from you...email anytime
Peace, Stephanie

Welcome Tamara, Your place does sound like a slice of Heaven. We also have a pigmy nanny. My daughter raised her on a bottle, we lost her mommy when she was 3 days old. That is one of the best experence that a young child can have. Maybe I can chat with you sometime about herbs. I am very interested in them just never tried to grow my own. one thing is I would have to fence it in. (pet rabbits and the goat everywhere, not to forget the chickens). the chickens are also my daughter's mainly. She sells the eggs mostly to family and my work family. ( I just get to be the delivery persons) Hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.
Later and a big welcome from the hills of WV Becky |
