Good morning! My name is Lorna and I live in Forest Hill, MD with my husband of 20 years Tim, 14 yo daughter Rebecca and 8 yo Rottweiler Kringle... I have a gazillion furry friends outside that I feed regularly. Tim thinks I feed the wild better than I feed him sometimes

How I found you farmgirls:

I was sitting in the Dr's office this past Friday afternoon for my annual physical. While I wait, I am reading a copy of More magazine and come to a MaryJanes Farm article. I sat and stared at that article (after reading it twice) for what seemed like an hour but it was actually more like 10 minutes. My patience began to fade. I wanted out of there! What was taking the Dr so long? I needed to be someplace. I had to get home and log onto www.maryjanesfarm.org...... HELLO!!!!!!! Dr. Crotty! I gotta go, can we hurry this along! I carried that magazine with me into the exam room, with a tight grip on that page; I had my finger marking the spot where the article was located. Could this possibly take any longer? I have been waiting what, sixteen minutes by this point. Finally, the appointment was over and I was sent on my way.....I get into the truck and begin my trip home and my mind just won't stop wandering, wondering what is on this website, what will I find, and I have all night to just pour over it. My daughter had left earlier that day for a night out with a few girlfriends. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.....I can't wait to get home. I arrive at home and dart into the house to hop on the computer and what do I find? The husband surfing Ebay..... Helloooo, can he not tell I am on a mission. OK, what is the best way to get him of the computer? FOOD! So I whipped up some grub, stuck a plate on the table and poof, like magic the computer was freed from his grips. I didn't give the chair time to cool. I plopped right down and Tim says, "Hey babe, aren't you eating?" Under normal circumstances we all sit down together and eat. But this was far from normal! I had to get on that website. So I explained what was going on and he just smiled, he understood......he knows me all to well. So, I spent a great deal of time over the next two days on these websites. Reading, reading, clicking and reading. I could not get enough. Still can't.

Ok there you have it! lol The above paragraph was taken from an email I sent yesterday to the Farm! lol

Now off to evaluate that outdoor room project.....

Hugs!
Lorna

Welcome Lorna! Oh my gosh! You gave me a really good chuckle and I have a big grin on my face! I can just see everything! How funny! Just wait till you get your hands on the magazines and the books! No one will see you for at least a week! I should make a door hanger for the my office that says "Not now...I am reading MaryJanes's" LOL I love to just bury myself in the magazines and books... there always seems to be something new everytime I open the pages!

I know you will just love chatting here with us! Have a great day, and welcome to the forums!

Alee,

Glad it made you smile.

Last night we were on our way home and hubby was going to stop at Barnes and Noble for me so I could get my first book! Whoooo Hoooooo! but a nasty thunderstorm earlier knocked out the power to the traffic lights near the store and we didn't want to chance trying to get across such a major intersection without the lights. So today my daughter and I are going to head out and get one! I can't wait. But I do realize I gotta get off these boards to get there! ;)

Actually, he didn't want to chance crossing that highway. He could have pulled off on the shoulder and I would have ran like the dickens! lol But that didn't fly either.

Oh hobbies! lol I have many but my favorite would have to be crocheting with fabric. I make rugs, coasters / mug mats, table runners, placemats, chair pads, christmas tree skirts, stockings, even garland. I use thick strips of fabric and make a really big thick chain with a country fabric and it just looks devine draped around the tree. I also collect ornaments. I have a tree downstairs in the family room that I leave up year round. I also like to read, cross stitch, beading, sewing and COOKING! I love to cook, I think mostly because we love to EAT! lol And now my new found hobby, designing my outpost! I will be posting pics in a moment of where to put it!

Hugs,
Lorna

Hi Lorna, and welcome. I like your outlook on life see what you want and grab on with both hands. I could just see you standing there with this little light bulb coming on over your head. I love it. I like you still can't get enough. I have to find time that my daughter (who is home alone with her brother, who is at a upward bound program at WV Tech.) in not on the computer, so ,,, I usually get up before she does. LOL Now the other half,,,, true farm boy. doesn't know how to turn the computer on and doen't want to know. He could care less.. which is good. because with a 16 yr/boy and 9 yr/girl,, he is just one less that I have to compete with for computer time. So pull up a chair, get comfortable, and welcome to the group.
