Welcome! So glad to have you with us here! It is wonderful when we can find a silver thread in sorrows that come our way! It reminds me of one of my favorite poems
"This old world we're living in
is mighty hard to beat
We get a thorn with every rose
but ain't the roses sweet"
I wish you the best as you help others!
See you round the farm!
Hugz!
Talitha

I love the name Talitha, where in the world did your parents find it? Is there a secret story behind it along with the beautiful poetry? ((squeezes)))

Becky,
I have a cousin, 92 years old now, there in West Virginia, that used to own a huge farm there. She is now in an apartment and lonely, but you may have heard of her. Her name is Ethel Briggs and I am just now in the process of writting her. She was our family historian for over 50 years and worked with Red Cross until she had to retire 30 or 40 years.. Nice to meet you..Pauline

Hello Gals! Thanks for the wonderful welcome. I'm still learning how to navigate the forums and find my way back to chats that I am involved in. This is so much fun and I feel connected again after many lonely years. I'm grateful to my chapter leader for inviting me to be a farmgirl!!

I'm trying to post a photo of my sunflowers out front...they are soooooo pretty and this photo actually came out well on my daughters new digi cam. I have to get one for myself!! I'm a little techno rebellious and don't like to buy stuff like that, but now I want to share pictures!

I hope this works!

Holiday Angel-

It is funny that you would say such a thing about NY. In neighboring cities I am teased about living in Argyle. They say, "Oh, I hear that cows out populate humans there!" I think they are right, although because I live so close to Saratoga Springs (home of the famous race track!) we now have very many horse farms. I have three new horse farms near my home just this summer!!!

Anyhow, I live in upstate NY, hate being in the city, never even go to Albany if I can help it, love the quiet of my little hometown, but long to move south!! My husband and family like to hike in the Adirondack mts which is probably why I love Tenn because of the Appalacians.

We do have a lot of agriculture here too including many organic veggie farms and very popular Farmers Markets.

Here's a photo of my own recent harvest...

Sounds like you have a big family! I have five children...3 sons and 2 daughters, but no grandkids yet. Can't wait!!!

Hope to see more of you later!
Carrie

I guess my mind has a hard time wrapping around the idea of farm life in New York, although I know it exists, you just don't hear much about it. I have 4 daughters, two step daughters, and one step son along with around about 20 some grand kids. I love to read, knit, woodwork & burning, oil paint, paint with acrylics and make memory boxes for families that lost little ones.
Hope to get to know you too!

Carrie,
Love the picture brings back memories. I have raised much and canned much in my lifetime!!
Oh yes, there are lots of children around and if that isn't enough we have lots that we do for in our charity, my part of course being the children's division.
I have been born and raised in Oregon, although I have traveled much across the United States. I used to drive truck cross country so I have seen a lot and lived in many states always coming back here. Tennessee is beautiful in the Smokies. We had parked on the side of the mountain and looked over the canyon's and watched a logging truck with jake brakes ripping across the silence, reminding me of my Uncle Lloyd driving his log truck in Coquille, Oregon.
Anyway, I love country and have experienced much that I am not ashamed of and am now settled, somewhat, near the town I was born at home and delivered by my father, totally middle child, sixth up or sixth down by Brownsville, Oregon, town where they shot "Stand By Me" the movie, which looks pretty much the same as there!
Long winded, huh?
Nice to meet you!
Hugs,
Pauline
