...since I've had time to visit here - and I've missed you all SO much! I check in now and again, but I haven't been posting much -- Who knew that a couple of little ones, a huge planting of garlic, a new cow, 50-ish sheep and 4 steers - not to mention a dog and a cat - oh, yes, and then there's the fish... could keep a gal on the run quite like they have.
Anyhoo - y'all get the picture! I am so happy to be "back" here - and I can't wait to meet all of you farmgirls that I haven't met yet... YAY!!! You all are so wonderful - a "true blue" bunch of friends. IT'S BACK IN THE SISTERHOOD FOR ME!!!
XOXO, Libbie

OOOOhhhh, Jenny! - I miss you too!!! Evelyn is so loverly - she's turning out to be quite a dark color, with lightish inside ear-fur (ear-hairs?!?!?!). Anyway - she's really spunky - don't know if I'll be able to relay the hug - will a nice nose scratch do?
XOXO, Libbie

Libbie, I have been thinking of you! I hope all is well in your world. Hey, remember when little A leaked right thru the cloth diaper and soaker I knitted...Em did the same thing just the other day...those diapers are newish and need to be washed and fluffed to their full thirsty-ness...don't give up. Hand knit soakers are so fun...
I just jumped back in too...I have been away from the computer alot while I have been trying to recover from my bone infectiion... I sure have missed you, and the other FarmGirls. Love and light to you |

Hi, Kate!!! I've been thinking about you, too - wondering how that dang infection is doing. I LOVE the soaker! I discovered sort of by accident (hee hee) that the diapes need to be washed more! You did an amazing job on it - it looks so cute on him while he's running/tipping around.
Sending you loads of healthy vibes and love --

Oh, Pauline - it's wonderful to get to know you better. I have a couple of little boys - both, of course, farmboys - always in overalls and shirts that start out white and remain so for about 15 seconds. It sounds like your growing up life was so interesting - on a ranch like that - I love my little farm and the town I live in, but I grew up in cities, and I don't have that special "farmy" background that I hope my boys will value as much as I do having it for them.
XOXO, Libbie

I would not have traded my growing up on a farm for all the palaces in the world. it is such a shame most kids don't get to experience such a life. I still remember the innocent days of walking in fields of wild flowers, picking blackberries by the creek with the aroma of skunk cabbage around, catching fuish by hand (yes by hand), running deer down on foot (and we caught them), canning, hunting, fishing, gardening, always something to do. How could one not love that kind of life. The best of all was raising horses and winding some for the track by a local racer. We bucked hay, and worked with our neighbors just like they did on Little House on The Prairie..My father was on crutches for over 30 years, my mother took care of him and all of us, but my father never complained about his back and how it took a foot off his hieght before he died at 61 of a massive heart attack and she died 2 1/2 years later of broncial cancer when I was in my twenties. We were taught to be very independent and it stuck..LOL I hope your boys learn the art of farming because nothing else I know of can teach you so much incluing faith in God, after all He created all of it! Am heading for bed but sure enjoy hearing from you. You can catch me most days checking the board in between everything else..I'm having a ball!!! Good night God bless, Pauline

Libbie, it's so good to "hear you" again! I think of you so often and figure you're so busy with your kiddies and critters.
The chicken moat is three sided, instead of four, but *all*most* done*!!! It's also huge. Phil said yesterday he's bought 700 feet of fencing wire, and will have used almost all of it. You always come to mind when I look at chicken-land

Yes Libbie, nice to see you about again. I was beginning to think that perhaps you had been run over by a herd of sheep! Bet those boys of yours are growing like crazy and are also crazy. Don't worry, I have three grown children and they all settled down when they were in their late 30's, so it won't be long now. HA. NANCY JO

Oh, you all are so kind!!! I've missed you, too, Bonnie!!! And Ann - that is SO darn cool that your "moat" is nearing completion. You absolutely MUST post a photo - I think about you, too, when I look wistfully at my fencing and wire and not-even-close-to-being-finished-moat. I'm so happy for you! Nancy Jo - DID YOU SAY 30's?!?!?!?!? Actually, they are really active and fun - and, now that you mention it, I HAVE had a few run-ins with the sheep - nothing that left me flat on the ground however ! Oh, Karin - hugs gratefully received! When I told my little ones I was relaying a farmgirl hug to them, Will said, "farmgirls always hug, don't they?!?!" and I had to give a resounding, "YEP!" And Patricia - I'm so glad that you are loving life up in Portland - thank you for the welcome back - I've missed you!
WOW! I feel just like I walked into a room of friendly farmgirls - you all are great!!!
XOXO, Libbie
