60 below is the norm in the winter. Larry's worked on the north slope for over 20 years and is as used to it as anyone could get. He doesn't have the SAD problems and that's usually what causes a few to not continue to work up there. Unless they get fired for having drugs or alchohol up there or something else stupid. The money is so good, it's hard to walk away from, especially when it's getting close to retirement.

OMG Bonne!! You are way too good at sneaking up on a girl. Thanks for posting Bev and me!! :) I was going to TRY to get a pic on here...yeah, right!LOL

We had fun in Connecticut today!! Great fabric at the quilt store and lots of awesome stuff at the gun show. Of course, did not buy anything, but saw a lot of history and a lot of HUGE price tags on the vintage and custom guns. WOW!

A new Scheels sporting goods store opened recently in Reno and we spent awhile in the antique/vintage $$$ gun rooms. Really some beautiful engraving and woodwork on some. I don't think Larry would go to a fabric or quilt show with me ever and probably wouldn't want him to anyway.
When we went through the Buffalo Bill Museum in Wyoming 13 years ago, I'd never seen so many guns in one building in my life. After awhile, they started to all look alike to me.

I got some fabric to make a few aprons like the one in the MJF magazine. I'll take a picture tomorrow so you can see them. It was a lot of fun picking them out.

Yeah, Ronna, the guns do all start to look alike after a while. I liked seeing the WWII guns since I have seen so many movies with them used. We just do a little hunting around here and some sporting clay target shooting. No need for anything fancy for that.

Ronna, Larry must have a strong constitution if he can work in those frigid temps. I'm sure people get acclimated, but I'm really feeling the cold here. I haven't taken down my tree yet, I store stuff on the porch (glassed in in winter) and it is so cold I'm just going to wait for a break in the weather.

Hoping I get hit with the quilting fever soon, I have got to get going and finish something, it just drives me nuts when I can't seem to get things together.

Bonne, thank you for the crochet patterns. I've got to do a litlle more of that as well, it is very soothing. Of course I was so inspired by your cowboy quilt I've been delving into my fabric to see how many cowboy prints I have. Only one turned up so far, but I haven't deg deep enough, I'm sure...last Christmas my SIL gave me a cowboy sheet, she thought I could use it in a quilt. I'm sure I can if I can just remember where I buried it

Oh Carol 'Sue, I hope you get a break soon from all these snow related complications. It is hard to keep up with things when they are so labor intensive.

I put a few new cardboard boxes in the kitchen for the kitties. They delight in trying them on for size and occasionally a good napping spot for them. They get a little sqirrely this time of year so i try to accomadate their need for something new to investigate.

OOps, I better go start cooking. Both my kids are here and I have promised them enchiladas. Fortunately they are an easy meal to construct. It is a treat to have three people to cook for...

Karin,
I do stacked New Mexico style enchiladas, much faster and easier than filling and rolling each one up. Same ingredients, just do it in layers. I cut a wedge like a pie for serving and it works out just fine.
Tamale discussion on another list, I've not made them in several years. Very labor intensive, but I know what's in them and no fat or gristle or mystery meat. Usually make many dozens, portion out what we eat at a meal and freeze them up in Foodsaver bags.
Enjoy having your kids there for dinner.
Yes, Larry walks around here in short sleeves most of the time when everyone else is wearing layers with a down jacket. I'm surprised, but happy, that he's okay with the house warm and a down comforter on the bed.

Colder climates help you stay slimmer though. Your body is busy trying to keep your temp. up, as long as you don't sit
inside all the time. ;) I do miss being able to go to the park and go skating though. (Minnesota) We don't stay cold enuff here to flood the parks in winter. As cold as the winters were, I remember being outside a lot as a kid, and there weren't too many fat kids.
I'm about halfway done on my mini-aprons! Sat down and sewed between pans of cookies baking.
Ronna, uncovered that Bernina yet? MWWAAAgghhhh!!!

Mini aprons started already? Oh no! What a slacker I am. I do think I have an idea though. It is getting colder and colder tonight. Supposed to be only in the 20s. It was colder last week, but this is still chilly.
