One secret for smaller homes is shelving. Shelves everywhere in mine. No bare walls~they are put to use. Red's good at hanging sturdy shelves. Lots of them we got on clearance at Home Depot, others he made. Also, one of those overhead pot-holders with the hooks for the kitchen~frees up cupboard space. Hooks on the kitchen wall hold kitchen utensils & several spice racks. You learn to make use of your limited space. Then as soon as I make some space I take up another hobby.......ROFL

I have always wanted to do some red in our house but it's so small that I thought it would be too much. Bonne~I love shelves too!! Unfortunately we don't have much wall space. Our living/dining room is one large space. It is half of the first floor. There are four large windows, two archways, fireplace, and an ac unit built into the wall. These were installed by the airport because of noise control and we have to keep them in. No wall space for shelves.
The kids rooms have slanted ceilings so I have a few bookshelves in both of them. They're the smaller ones so they fit under the slanted ceilings. One thing I do love is the built in bureaus in the kids rooms. They are great spacesavers. Ruth

Only thing about Red is you have to feed him with tools regularly~he was ready to drive to Indiana with his chainsaws after your last big storm. ;)

Ruth, how old is your daughter? Isn't she getting almost to college age ? That frees up a room. LOL How heartless I am!! "18 you're on your own!"
Of course, my son gets a house and I start moving my crap in..... I forgot about those sewing machines I have there...2 ~a treadle and a brother.

My daughter wants to stay at home for college. She is going to be 16 in June. She wants to go to school for nursing and would like to be a surgical nurse. The local hospital will pay for her schooling if she signs a contract to work for them for 3 yrs after she gets her associates. They will also continue to pay for her to get her bachelors. Not a bad deal. I told her it's kind of like being an indentured servant. LOL
Ok~sorry Jess~I thought you meant the color red.
Dd wants her room repainted but isn't sure what color yet. I told her in the spring.

Oh, I'm not guessing ages. I've always sucked at it. Just wondering though since I haven't quite hit the 30yo mark yet.

Carrie, any sourdough recipe that includes yeast is "sourdough type or style" not true sourdough. Not to say that's bad, but it's not the real deal. My magazine finally came today, so been looking in between laundry loads and putting the stuff back under the kitchen sink, now that the new dishwasher is installed. If I buy anything but dishwasher detergent and dish soap until all the rest is gone, some one who lives here is going to shoot me. 6 different stainless steel cleaners, cause I didn't like them. Yikes |

Bonne. I am sorely tempted, but I think it is going to snow again tomorrow and since my car refuses to start without rhyme or reason, but still, I would feel so wicked. Someone gave me a treadle when I was like ten years old and my mother gave it away. She didn't tell me until after she did it, so really, that means I DESERVE this treadle, doesn't it? I am pretty good at cleaning the old machines and there is an old man who lives in the village of Union who does sewing machine repairs, he's very reasonable. Whoops, now that I think about it, he did do a tune up on a 1948 Singer (year I was born) a few years back, I forgot about that machine, it came with a table, a stool that was packed with attachments and rick rack and old flowered bias tape. I remember paying $25 for that. It must be out in the barn. I guess I'll just see which way the wind is blowing tomorrow, or snowing.
This is a dangerous thread when we get on a real tear on certain subjects....

MMWWWaaaghhhhh!!! If anyone deserves a treadle, it's you Karin. I tried selling dresses before. A few years ago. I've tried selling a lot of handcrafted things through the years, but I'd only get 1 or 2 followers so I've come to the conclusion now that I do craftsie stuff for the fun of it anymore and don't try to make any $$ off it. If someone wants to buy something occasionally, that's great~a bonus! Otherwise, I don't bother with trying to market~just depresses me in the end and that's the opposite effect I'm going for.

I pick 17, Naomi. I don't know what I am picking for, but that seems like a good number. :) It is F.R.E.E.Z.I.N.G cold here today! 12 degrees when I woke up this morning. I had to make a chicken waterer cozy so the girl's water won't freeze! (Used the mylar shade from the truck. I put a piece under the waterer on the slate and then made the cozy to slip over the top. Kept the water free-flowing today so that's a good thing.) Karin- You just get yourself a treadle! I found one for $75 on Craigslist, but we are short of $$. Of course!! I started planning out my Terracotta Army-inspired art quilt today. I cannot wait to get started, but I must. Darn these projects that need completeion. Why can't they put themselves together? lol

Ronna is your recipe posted somewhere on here? Glad you got your magazine hope mine comes soon.
I know sales on homemade goods are down everywhere people just don't appreciate things that are handmade unless gifted. Especially things like quilts.
Naomi I'll guess!
