Happy day after Thanksgiving!! We had a great day too. Just the kids and us with Uncle George (he is our holiday staple!! and we love it). My daughter works at a clothing store at the mall close by and they opened at midnight last night! We could see the traffic on the expressway at a standstill from midnight until 2 or 3 am! She said it was actually kind of fun working at midnight. She got home at 8 am just when my son and my husband were heading OUT to work! :0

Nice chilly day today. Having a friend over for dinner and we will head out for a ride this afternoon. Hope you are all happy and able to work off those extra calories!

Hey Naomi,

Thomas and I went shopping on Friday. I got a pair of Privo clogs and a beautiful Liz Claiborne leather bag. Thomas found some boots..got some lambswool slippers for one of the kids.

Today we went to one of the yarn shops and I got some wool yarn and novelty type yarn to make myself a scarve and got a skein of handpainted wool to make Thomas a scarf as well. He picked out his favorite. I believe he likes the yarn as much as I do.

At one point we were going to take knitting lessons together but it turned out to be a hassle with the long drive we would have had to endure each time. Where we are now it would be simple to do.

Hope you and your family are enjoying the cooler weather and the holiday season.

Stephanie

Sounds like you got some cool stuff Stephanie...
I almost got some wool yarn, but I wasnt sure what my purchases where gonna come too....came up alot cheaper then I'd thought, but ooh well...the yarn will always go on sale another time...
The cooler weather has been nice...and very fun, exppecially to wear hats, I just got an awesome pinstripe hat...perfect to wear with a red t-shirt leather jacket and the pinstripe skirt I made, or even the other skirt I bought...hehe....

Nearly finished dads yoga mat...only have to bind it now...machine quilted it into 5in squares..I tell you..two layers of denim plus three layers of batting is quite a feat to put through the machine...especially when it is 30in by 6 feet...whew....tomorrows project...cut some binding and finish it up....maybe...haha

Naomi...wow that does sound like a difficult thing to do with all those layers. You must have a special machine to get it to fit. ?
I am sure he will love it.
:-)
I am needing something like a small thin mattress for my son to use on the floor...I will probably just get the foam and cover it for him. I lie on the couch and so far he is happy to be on the floor...at least it is carpeted and warm....anyway. Any ideas?
I could get it done for him by Christmas. !

Danny is still having problems, but not as severe. My plan is to get him into sensory therapy like he had years ago. And also to a specialist for neuroligical disorders. I have some avenues to go and he is a little better. I am determined to have a real Christmas!

No special machine, just a basic Singer from Wally World...I used a great big stitch and rolled the parts that werent going under the needle so I could handle it better...It didnt turn out perfect but I think I did pretty darn good...hehe

Linda
Jo-anns has Thick foam(3-4inches), I'm not sure how cushy it is, but I dont see why you couldnt sew a cover for it and use that....

This is where you need an nice "industrial" machine with a walking foot. I could find an excuse to buy every type and vintage of sewing machine there is! ROFL!!

Craig's List is just nutz lately with sewing machines! In Denver anyway. I can't believe I missed the Featherweight that they posted at $50! I was a day late on that one.
The Singer Sergers on Ebay for about $180 look to be an awesome buy~once you start serging and find out how nicely it finishes the seams all in one fell swoop, you'll be wanting to serge everything you can find. And FAST! I'd stay away from White's ~ I've only seen poor reviews on them.

Hey Jess,

I've been under the weather for weeks with what I think is my gall bladder but hopefully will know exactly what it is by the end of the week. I like handling everything naturally but I need to combine my bloodwork, ultrasound, etc. with my alternative meds. It's gotten better but there is definitely something going on and it's really concerning me now.

We moved very quickly at the end of October for a job that was offered to Thomas. It will last about a year or longer. I'm outside of Memphis, Tennessee. Still have our home in Alabama to maintain and it's a five hour drive to get there. Uggg!! Going back for a few days before Christmas to gather up more sewing stuff.

I've found several local sewing groups that meet during the week and so I've really enjoyed that. Everyone just works on whatever they have going on.

Naomi, I want to see a picture of your dad's yoga mat. It really is hard handling all those layers while trying to sew a straight line...LOL

Talk to ya later, Stephanie

BEV-I know this apron gave you a headache but I just love it!!! Youre so sweet to send it to me! I'll return the kindness somehow. Your work is beautiful,as I suspected.
It is just a bit big on me but I don't care- it feels great and I think it looks kinda dressy!
Thanks again!!!
