Hey Naomi,

Your sewing instructor sounds like a treasure to hold on to I learned a lot many years ago from a lady that held classes in her converted garage to studio .....she now owns two sewing shops and has over 50 different classes to offer with many more instructors now. It's wonderful to see the current generation so interested in sewing for themselves and their businesses.

The standing joke between me and Thomas is that our home is a Studio with a bed, bath and kitchen...I have about 750 square feet devoted to my sewing and it's full....could use a 1000 square foot studio easily! The next house we buy will have a seperate studio since I obviously only need about 500 square feet to live in otherwise..LOL

Talk to ya later, Stephanie

Jess,

I replied to you on Sunday...guess you didn't see it in the midst of the other conversations.

Hey Steph...I just went back and took a look, sorry to hear you are not feeling well...i understand you exploring real natural medicine first..I do the same...docs and their concoctions scare me to death. I am glad you found new folks to hang with so quickly. What a drag to still deal with your old house, but I think that moving slowly has its benefits. Glad to see you back and a regular here. Still waiting to see "that" project.

Hmmmmm...I have dishes too if anyone wants those, Bev already has her dibs on the laundry, sory ladies.

My house must look like no one lives in it when the inlaws come, and they check closets and cabinets, so nothing can be hidden unless it is in the garage or the dungeon basement. My sil, is very tidy and could only handle coming to visit about once every 3 yrs and she only lives 3 hrs away and is off in the summer time. So go figure, I just feel bad for my husband he is so sweet and he does not get much time with his only sibling.

hurry up Nay we wanna see pics.

I wish I could, I have even tried before to premake all the food, and set out all the kids clothes, and then ask my husband if I can just take a weekend for myself that weekend since he has help with the kids, but he never goes for that one. Oh well...back to my cleaning jobs.

I fully believe(in my own delussional way) that a mil that sees her son and grandkids being LOVED and cared for(which you obviously do) will let the good outweigh the clutter of family life. Family life just isn't tidy like "grand-parent life".

Maybe, as in my case- the in-laws just dont have the endurance for the busy-ness of it all- maybe they dont expect it to be spotless.
I have 7 grands and I love my dil's & sil dearly but a 50 yr old can only take so much- even after raising a houseful myself
Even good kids - (and believe me I think I have good grandkids)are happily noisy and I get a little nervous.
I never thought it would happen- I raised 3 rowdy boys and 2 girls-one a princess to this day and one a busy- productive -all -businees boss- of -the- world- type and in less than perfect circumstances , so I thought I was immune to noise and activity for LIFE.
Sadly- not so
I have a limit and when they all come at Christmas- I have to prepare myself to step out and collect myself once in a while.
One house 1600 sq feet, 7 grands under 7,3kids with spouses plus 2 teens and attatched friends- and ONLY ONE BATHROOM!!!!
Maybe that's the problem-the bathroom.
Anyway- dont stress too much Jess- your aa good mommy and wife and that's what a mom wants for her son.
OK There - I'm done.

thank you, i really appreciate it, and i know my own dad can hardly handle when he comes over and there are my 7 and my sisters 3, and my other sisters one. i just can never handle the comments, i always just smile and excuse myself. she has recently started giving me credit for a few things, and each time i almost fall over. well...back to cleaning.

So, let's start a travelling farmgirl SWAT team to travel around and help each other get ready for company. So, Jess, we can all come and clean up for you and then you all can come and help me clean my barn this spring....now THAT is dirty....should make you feel great about your house!!! LOL

Wouldn't it be fun if it were that easy.....I still say we should all move to the same part of the country...what fun we could have together....actually, we might all be dangerous together. Although, JoAnn's stock would go up quite a bit!!!!!

I love that word picture.

It is YOUR house, Jessica! And inlaws can eat my shorts. *L* Seriously, this is one time that having TV would be good so you could see Little People Big World where the cool mom has a quite less than tidy house, on TV!!!! There are more important things in life. Get them a room at a hotel if they can't take it. Seriously! :-)

Jess- what a woman! Takes a big person to smile & excuse yourself when others are unkind.
My most important mother-in-law(for the MIL-namely ME!) rule is
KEEP your mouth shut. I always try to obey it-and most of the time my in-law children as well as my own appreciate it.

After all, we do all have our own lives to worry about- who needs to inject "advice" - uh-oh that's what I'm doing!!!

Your a neat lady,Jess- Just keep up being the neat person you are!!!
Blessings
Autumn

Just a note that I won't be on much. Between the upcoming show, my mom getting hurt and needing a lot of help and the website, plus all the other things pulling at me, I am wiped.

I will still do the swap.
