I'm going to make a Christmas apron for myself soon. It's already December! I gave the Thanksgiving apron to a friend...she loves it. Collecting different Xmas print fabrics to us on my next one. I am thinking a country style patchwork look. Probably a half apron with big pockets.

Danny boy is with his dad today...could be almost the last time he sees his dad for a long time. His dad is going to training at Ft. Bragg for a while...possibly back just for Christmas and on to Afghanistan. Danny is 7 yrs old and doesn't comprehend not seeing his dad in a long time. But his behavior is better now...very large increase in meds. Now just watching for side effects. So far so good. Soon as I get the card to put in my new camera then I'll figure out how to post pics... :-) prayers still appreciated for my Danny boy.

good to hear Danny is doing better. He has a lot of challenges, but sounds like you are ironing them all out. Sorry to hear about the Afghanistan thing. My sisters husband is getting ready to leave for training at Ft Dix, then to Iraq, so we will keep you in our thoughts.
Bonne, dont you need a few more Christmas aprons? |

I made two Christmas aprons!! One for me and one for momma. I made her placemats, napkins, etc last year and now I have made her the apron that matches. Maybe I will do a few towels if I have time.
Linda: Hope Danny is feeling good today and adjusting. I am praying for all of you with families in foreign places. |

No sewing this weekend for me....we got 2 new goats...Dwarf Nigerians....and they are pregnant!!! Soooooo cute....will post pictures tomorrow. It is so cold here...got a light dusting of snow over last night.....BRRRRRRRR!!
I have sold no aprons on my Etsy in forever....I am about to give up on Etsy. But I still seem to be busy enough making special orders for friends, etc. So....at least I still have a reason to sew for now! At least until the present stash of fabric runs out!

Yes, thank goodness for friends and acquaintances. That's where I market most of the things I sell. What do you do with your goats, Bev? Milk 'em? Make goat cheese?
I didn't sew any aprons, but did make something I'd actually wear a bunch; a pullover berber fleece robe for hanging around the house in the evening. It's so cozy! Sewed it on my "Rocketeer". I look for any excuse to sew or repair things anymore, what with all my choices of machines to sew on. LOL

I am nearly done with two of the most beautiful Christmas Aprons EVER!!! Absolutley NOT feasible of Course! But UGH!! So pretty!!!!! Yes.. My Standard "V" Pattern.. AND reversible! One is a 'Gift' can't say for who.. it's a secret.. i don't see her peeking on this thread very often.. but ya just never know.. & I THINK I just may keep that other one for myself! Picture will be like pulling hens teeth with that demented Camera of mine.. But i'll see what I can manage with my phone.. !
ANYWAY.. One side is a Shimmery Christmas Plaid.. With see through Snowmen for the "V"s and the reverse is this gorgeous.. shimmery red.. maybe even satin.. yes.. i know.. Stupid.. But I couldn't resist.. i was SOoooo pretty! & there are these translucent like snoflakes on it! & the "V"s are a see through candy mint type dealy.. yes.. all so very over the top & useless as an Apron.. you'd just have to run put it on.. say hello.. serve.. then yank it back off again.. because anythink more then that & i'm so sure It'd be ruined..!! But they are So gorgeous!! I'll try to get some pictures.. I really want you all to see these!

Hey Bev,
I used to have Nigerian's in addition to my Saanens and Nubian dairy goats. They are a riot and soooo very smart. They defintely think they should lead the herd and would love to live in the house with you...LOL
Did you get papers on yours and are they registered at ADGA? They just recognized the Nigerian as a "dairy" breed a few years ago. They have the highest butterfat next to the Nubian so the milk will make some dynamite cheese. You can even buy milking machines with inflators that fit those tiny teats
If these are your first goats to milk then I suggest you start putting them on a milkstand everyday to feed them their grain about 6 weeks before they're due to kid then they will be used to it and milking will be much easier.
I had 20-35 kids hit the ground during kidding season and was there for every delivery. I usually never milked more than 8 does. That produced enough milk to bottle feed all the kids then when they were weaned I had milk to make lots of cheese and other goodies.
I loved running my little dairy...had customers coming from all over to buy milk, cheese, soap...Many of the local herbalist referred their clients that were living with cancer to me so they could get my raw goatsmilk to drink. It was a very rewarding period in my life.
Anyway..that's enough of that...I can talk about dairy goats and raising kids endlessly

Steph....the Dwarf Nigerians are registered. I am wondering if milking is in my future....I am so busy as it is...not sure I can add another thing right now! However, I DO want to bottle feed the babies as much as possible.
As for the fainters....the girls are going to get their ultrasound at the end of the month....then we will see how many babies are on the way!...we will ultrasound the new gals too for the same reason. It might be a very busy late winter!!!
Ok....need to clean, run errands and then get to my sewing room....needs a bit of TLC and then I have to work on a few projects that are started!!

So Bev, if you don't milk the goats, do you have them for fun? I'm trying to understand this, LOL, horses you can ride & work, goats because ?? LOL How funny they like to climb like mountain goats~love their coloring and markings.
Can't wait to see the unveiling of the stunning Christmas aprons Kathie!
Yes, you all would swoon to see Jess's latest addition. It is so fabulously fifties, but not heavy and clunky~very chic! It sounds like a lot of machines, but they are all unique with separate personalities, and unlike collecting other things, they work for you!!! It's win-win!
