Love the log cabin half apron Nashbabe. How's the farmer's market at Franklin now or do they shut down this time of year?

Well the home tour is over! At least for this weekend- another one next weekend. MINE is over- I get to relax a bit on the next one.
I took a few shots before and after- but not many during out tour.
I'll post a quik Living room shot however I didn 't do a great job on getting the shot

Perhaps tomorrow I will get some better shots- too much going on I guess.

OK -That was disappointing-
so here is a shot of the sewing room. It is clean, though it looks quite cluttered. I have to see my stuff for inspiration!

Autumn, Love your sewing area and love the vintage hats... I've got a about 30 vintage hats hanging above the plate glass windows in my sunroom. Here's a few of them..The red one and the garden hat with the leaves around it came from the estate of a 95 year old woman..I was told she wore them every week.

Stephanie

oops..went and took out the first one..way too big!!

CUTE!!!!! ALL my hats were my grandmas. They aren't displayed well but I love them just the same. I remember her wearing them weekly to church when I was small.
She was 98 when she died and one of my favorite people in the world. I still have her sofa & chair that she bought when my mom was small. It's been recovered 3 times and now sits in my little cottage that was ruined in the storm. There is just nowhere else to put them.
I wish I could use them but alas- there is no place.

Blessings,

Autumn, That's so neat that all of your hats were your grandmas...My collection is from many spirits young and old I guess. I thought it was neat to know the history on those few that I have. I think I bought 5 of that 95 year old ladies hats.

I've also got a collection of the wooden clothes hangers that are painted the pastel pink and some are kind of a pastel peach color. Got all of those the day that I missed the Featherweight machine at the Goodwill years ago. These hangers belonged to the same lady.

PS: I won a very nice Featherweight 221 on Ebay the other night. It should be on it's way to me by end of next week. I'll post pictures when it arrives.

Tina, Autumn & Steph,
ok, add me to the list of vintage hat aficiodos!!!
I too collect vintage/mid-century hats... I use to be able to display them in my old house (back in Calif.) But have no idea where or how I will be able to do that here, especially since I bought a few more(off ebay) I currently have them tissue wrapped w/ lavender sachets in hat boxes. Maybe come Spring after I do some major Spring cleaning/tossing what ever, I will be able to come up w/an idea to display them.
Oh, also, I have made some "hat stands", I bought some wooden paper towel holders @ a local Dollar store, painted then and padded the top with fiberfill and covered that w/quaint tapestry fabric, glued on cute lace/ribbons & rossetts.
I switch out my hats month to month. I make sure that there is no "stree' put on the hats and I use my hair blow dryer on low to blow off the dust. Nettings & feathers are soooo delicate!
Hats of to you ladies & your collections.

Hey there Grace,

I love the idea for the hatstands..very clever I know you'll find a spot in your new home for all those hats. But meanwhile they are enjoying soaking up that wonderful Lavender!

What a great idea! I keep looking for those neat looking wire displays but I don't know where I'd put them if I found them!
I will have a spare bedroom after April- my daughter is getting married and I think that room will become my display room. At least till the grandkids come

Stephanie- I just finished my first ever felted wool postcard- Ill try to post it here or on the quiltnstitch forum. No laughing!!!
Thanks for all the tips and encouragement- now all I need is a little talent and some more roving.
I did find the 3d items(bee hive& bee) easier than the flat picture.

Blessings,

I'll be watching for the pictures on the quiltnstitch topic and here Your're so funny Now I need to go find some goofy graphic that shows someone rolling around laughing

I've got the Janome Needlefelting machine and when I first started using it all of my stuff looked like it came from Mars! So thereafter it became "abstract art"..RITFLOL

does anyone here craft penny rugs?
I have been making a few of them for gifts this Christmas, and although they involve alot of hand sewing..I have been enjoying making them..time consuming of course, but the finished products look pretty nice.
So..does anyone have any idea on where to get some cute free patterns?

I do lots of penny rugs- I love em! I dont actually go by patterns too much anymore. Thats what I love about doing them- you can look at a design and pretty much do it. I dont sell them- or anything else for that matter- so I guess it's ok to copy ideas from pictures
I'm cheap by nature so if I can reproduce a design without having to buy/barter for a pattern I do!
I may have some old patterns you would like. I know I wont use them again. Do you want me to look?

Blessings,
Autumn

Autumn,
I'd love to see some of the different ones that you have made.
I have made 2 of the "blackbird in a pie" designs from the book called "Quick and Easy Penny Rugs" by Cleo and Me/Barbie Jo Paquin...cute patterns, but was wanting something a bit more traditional instead of "cutesy". The blackbirds in the pie actually are turning out very lovely though.
I love the design..I adapted it a little, less birds in the round, and less little circles around the edges.
No big hurry to see what you have, just when you get around to it, it would be cool to see something different for some fresh ideas.
Thanks!
~Tina
