Hey downbranchroad, thanks for poppin in over here, just go to your photobucket acct and upload a pic, then copy the img code at the lower righthand side, if you want you can edit the size so it is not huge. Then just paste the code into your reply in the box here on mjf! it is easy once you do it a few times!

Cute kitty,Lisa.

Jess....You NEED a blog....and we NEED you to have a blog. BTW...for those of you who knew about my Mom's compression fracture in her spine....she had surgery yesteday and is doing quite well, now. Probably will come home from hospital tomorrow.

I am having carpal tunnel surgery on Wednesday and will be hunt and pecking with my left hand for a while.....I guess the sewing will slow down considerably...darn it! And I just got a quilting machine for Christmas....so I am so excited to start using all of my scraps to make something warm and cozy. Patience.........

Oh Bev! Glad momma is doing well. Nothing like worrying about parents when we get a little older, huh? Especially if we are close to them! Good luck on your surgery. A friend had it last spring and was at work the next day. Not able to do much with her hand for a few days, but still she felt great.

I just finished a quilt top today! Check it out on my blog and let me know what you think! I am working on finishing a really gorgeous one this week before I go back to school. I made it in the mystery quilt class I took a few months back. There is another class in 2 weeks and I never start one without the previous ones done. This one, however I put away and sort of forgot about it, so I have to finish it now. You will love this one. The colors are dreamy and rich. Not my normal palette!

Girls...you cannot believe how easy that quilt was to make. Seriously, the curves were actually the center circles cut out of each block and then appliqued on the opposite ones. I have made quilts with curves like that and although I liked them, I would not do one that fast if not for this easy trick. It was in a magazine my husband got me for Christmas!

You join the four little squares together to make a block. Then you cut a circle out of the center of that block and put it onto the plain white block. Applique it. With the block that now has a circle cut out (the colorful ones) you put a piece of white fabric BEHIND it and fuse it. Applique now. See how easy?

To be honest, there were no real good pictures of the process in the magazine, so I had to read the directions several times before I started it. Once I got started, it was easy to see how it should be done.

Sheryl...do you have to fold under the edges before appliqueing??? or do you just stitch over the edges (curves)?

Bev: Because you are using a fusible web to put them on first, you do not need to fold under. I used my sewing machine to applique them on using a blanket stitch.

Jess: There are pictures of the blocks and how they look on my December 28 blog. Seeing how they look and then go together may help.

Ok...that makes it much more appealing to me from the standpoint of actually trying it. Now, another question....how do you cut the circles???

I made cicles of fusible web (there was a pattern in the book) and then I just centered them on the block, ironed it on, and carefully cut around them. I can send you the directions if you want me to. Let me know if you get the hankering for it! It was an easy and fun project. I am piecing the other one I mentioned tonight. There are hundreds of pieces, but it is so beautiful when done that it will be worth it.

LOL!! I see a lot of that design in the wings around here!!
I think the appeal is that it looks so much more difficult~stitching-wise~
Thanks for the inspiration, Sheryl-lyn!

I hope you all make it, so we can see how different it can look just with different colors! That is the amazing thing about quilting, everyone can make the same thing and it looks so original.

Gals, please keep our family in your prayers. My mom's credit card was used to charge many items. We called the card company after receiving a letter. The crook changed my mom's account address back in October. My brother filed a report with the police dept., but my mom wasn't speaking to my brother (he did nothing wrong), and doesn't want his help with this situation. There is so much more, but I totally lost it when my mother called today. It makes me so mad that she is treating the son who has done so much and still does a lot for her this way. It has been 11 days since she had her last kidney dialysis. Still refusing treatment. She wants me to handle everything and I just can't. I involve my brother in everything, because we are close.
