Hi all! I am new around here and thought I would introduce myself to get acclimated. I'm Jenna, from central Illinois. I'm 26 and live in a city now but I grew up on a farm about 40 minutes from where I live now. (My parents still live there so I visit the farm regularly.) I am very much a farmgirl! I love sewing, knitting, and crochet and I will give any craft a try. I enter crafts in the county fair every year, my favorite categories are Craft item made from recyclables and Doilies. I also love obedience training and showing my dog, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Sully. I love animals! Growing up, I had chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas, sheep, rabbits (show and meat rabbits), guinea pigs, dogs, cats and my favorite, mules! I rode and drove my mules in lots of shows and parades! I was in 4-H and now I am a 4-H leader! (I teach dog obedience.) I've been married for over 7 years now and love trying to keep my house welcoming and warm. We have no children and no real plans for children, we are happy with our furry son and his pet cat. I started a new Chapter because I didn't see one in my immediate area so I welcome any Champaign-Urbana Farmgirls to join me in the Prairie Farmgirls Gathering! I head up a craft group here in town and we get together semi-regularly.
Here are a few quick facts about me
Favorite Color:
Pink

Favorite season:
Fall

Favorite food:
Baked goods! Pie, cake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cobbler, crisp! Yum!

Favorite quote:
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

Welcome to the forum Jenna. I'm about a hour north of your area. I love it down there by you. Great shopping in Utica too! I think you'll feel right at home here. Good luck on finding more girls for your chapter in Champaign-Urbana.

I think corgis are absolutely adorable too. They reminder me of "Master Yoda". Too cute!

Hi Jenna, and welcome!
Your screen name immediately caught my attention as I am a corgi lover too! We rescued our Walter about 3 months ago from a shelter. He is a sable boy with beautiful golden brown eyes. Two corgis before him...both wonderful pets.

So you grew up near Champaign? My son's band (Slingshot57) is based out of Champaign. Maybe you have heard of them? I know the area well...lots of road trips for concerts etc. My best friend now lives in Rantoul, so still more road trips! Seems like I am forever traveling Rt 57. May I pass on information about your chapter to my BF? She is just your age & very domestic/crafty.

Stay & "set a spell" with us. You'll love it here on the farm!

Blessings,
Rhonda

Welcome Jenna!! I think you will just love it here...how fun it will be to get to know you.
I think Corgis are adorable too..I have basset hounds and I think if I ever had another breed it may just be a corgi.
I am so glad you found us!

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome! Corgis are certainly adorable dogs and I'm glad to see so many corgi-lovers!
abbasgurl-Please do pass on the info to your friend! If she contacts me, I'll let her know about upcoming Farmgirl and craft group get-togethers! We rescued Sully too, we got him a year and half ago from a corgi rescue group near Chicago. He is a black headed tri, the first of that color I had ever met in person, and fell absolutely in love! I have had one other corgi before, a red and white female who was my obedience dog in high school. Do you plan on showing? I see you are in NW Indiana. Every year our corgi club has a puppy match in Wanatah that we attend!

Hi Jenna,

Can you send me a private message with all the info about your crafty get together? I'm sure my friend would love it!

Sully sounds like a beauty! I'd love to meet him sometime. Walter has come so far since we got him. He was skin & bones, full of fleas & worms...his coat was a wreck. But he has put on weight and his coat is shiny & getting thicker. A real diamond in the rough. Besides being the LAZIEST dog I have ever seen, I'm not sure he is a "show quality" pup. Not a typical corgi personality at all! In some ways that's a nice thing though. LOL

Which club do you belong to? I'd love to see the puppy match! A day of corgi love would be just heavenly!

Also...I had no idea there was a corgi rescue near Chicago...can you give me the name of it? There are several great groups near St. Louis, but sadly they don't allow their dogs to be adopted this far from their home base.

OK, I am afraid I've hijacked your post...oops!

Hi, Jenna, and Welcome, from one of the Louisiana farmgirls. Sure wish you lived closer. I'd get you to work with Pete, our Heeler and Hootie, our German Shepherd. They're both still puppies, but at six months old you'd think they would at least have learned the basics! No, they're too worried about running the fields and swimming in the pond. Oh, well. I'll try again today. Just like I do everyday. Maybe eventually they'll figure things out! Glad to have you in the forum!

from the hearts of paradise...
