Yesterday I found some rasberry print fabric.I hope everyone will like it. I will start my blocks after another cup of coffee.(remember my first set did not come out as nice as I would like. How is everyone coming along with their blocks? I hope you are all having fun shopping for fabric and then peicing your plocks.

At the risk of sounding like a weenie, since I know all of you gals are quilting pros... I have never cut out so many rectangles in my life!! But, I am chugging along. Today I am thankful for rotary cutters! (That's for you, Jess!) |

If I can find what happened to my rotary cutter, I will be thankful, it just up and disappeared one day. The kids never touch it, it has ot's own space, I may be the one to blame, but my last blocks I had to cut out by hand, and that is for the birds! I have my veggie fabrics, 2 of them, I am going to get black today and a jar fabric, and perhaps just buy a new rotary cutter. Maybe I will go for pink this time...who knows.

Sarah, There are a few pieces to this block, but you should be ok. A rotary cutter is a must!
Rotary cutters...I am the proud owner of 4. What happens is I will misplace one or my sister will take one so I just purchase a new one. Then when I least expect it, they all come home.
Pennie, Yes, please make 9 blocks. You will send me 8 blocks. Keep one for yourself. When I sort them out you will receive 8 different ones. Oh, my address is on its way....

Hi Kathy, I have purchased my fabric and cut out the pieces, but then I'm lost. Can I send one to you for assembly, if you wouldn't mind. Then send it back and I can follow your example?

okay pennie, your next step should be to lay out the corners of the jar that will make the jar look jar shaped instead of like a square. I believe these pieces are 1 1/2" squares. You will sew these onto each corner at a diagonal, from crner to corner, watch your seam allowances while you do this. Then trim the corners and iron it flat so it make a shape like in the very first diagram of the instructions. The link is in the first post on page one. If you click on next step, you will see what it should look like.

Jessica, Thanks for pitching in. I can always count on you to give a helping hand!
Pennie, If you still need help I will mail you the directions and a block But first look at the web site again. It has a lot more directions than what I had posted.

Today at work we had a lunch for a women that has been with the company 50 years! Wow. The HR department did a little looking into our ages. More then half of us were not even born when Sue started her job. Less then half of us have been with the company 10 years. (I am working on my 19th year) 50 years with the same company. you dont see that very often!

I have to say that I looked at the website and printed it out and read through it many, many times. I was so confused, I called my sister, and she started referring to certain words & phrases in the instructions that I had never seen! It turns out that when I looked quickly through the Introduction page on about.com, I clicked print so I could feel it in my hands as I read it...well, what I clicked on was print, but only for the Introduction! Not for the whole instructions! So I went back and printed out the instructions, and was able to get started really easily.
Now I have finished them...I think they turned out really neat. This is my first real quilt "square" project. I've put 2 other quilts together, but not this involved.
I'm not sure how this has happened, but...I measured and cut exactly the right lengths and widths of fabric (although a few of my jars were a bit off!) for the black and the lids...and my seam allowances were miraculously right on...but !all! of my blocks were 8x12 instead of 8 1/2 x 12 1/2!! How does that work?? So I went back and remeasured all the pieces and allowances, and they hadn't shrunk! Oh, the mysterious world of quilting! LOL

Well, I just finished re-doing all mine, I had the same problem with them being 8x12. I figured I was maybe not careful enough on the 1/4 inch seam allowances. . .don't know. Anyhow, they're all done and the right size now!
Kathy--Would you please email me the address to send them? Also, do I send postage for the return trip? Thanks! |

Sheila - How did you get them to be the 1/2 sizes? And did you take them all back apart or make new ones? I'm trying to figure out how to fix mine, I really don't want to start all the way over! Any suggestions or hints?

| Hi Sarah, it was a big time pain. I took them apart most of the way and did very teeny seam allowances. On the one I'm going to keep for myself, however, I just added another "frame" of the black and them trimmed it to size. Cheater way I guess. |
