| Hi all! I was hoping for MaryJane's book for Christmas, but my husband insisted that I should have it sooner. (Bless you, Mr. Mean Bill Collector, for making my cry, and my husband buy me this book!) Anyhow, I am new to the Farmgirl tribe, but I've always been a farmgirl at heart. Years ago I lived in a little cottage on 60 acres of land, and now I live in a cottage in the city. I have always dreamed of living on a modified farm (a little land, a goat, things that waddle, a greenhouse, and an art studio barn) Although this isn't immediately possible, I know it will happen some day, and in the meantime, I'll be spreading the Farmgirl love around the city. |

| Hi Judy! Glad you're here. Not all Farmgirls live in the country; as MaryJane says, 'Farmgirl is a condition of the heart.' I love your modified farm discription -- esp 'things that waddle'! I'd love a greenhouse, too, and studio space. What art would you be doing/are you doing now? Kathy |

Welcome Judy---You are in the right place. I am an urban farmgirl--My youth was spent on our family farm in Southwest Lousiana. I am truly a farmgirl at heart and you will love this site.
I love MJ's book. the best gift I have given myself in years. |

Aaaaw...thanks for all the warm welcomes, girls! I know I'll like it here. Honestly, it's such a blessing to have received this book, and to find this forumn with all you girls here!
In regards to art, I am a Jill of all trades. I love designing things, and want to make everything. I also love packaging things...being my own little factory. My husband is always afraid of what I'll do on my days off. He keeps expecting to come home to find a second floor on the house. I've been trying to start my own business for years, but always stalled because I felt pressure to focus on one thing. After several tries, and many years later...I finally realized that I am not able to focus on just one thing. My many projects are intertwined, each one inspires the other...
My company is now called JAC Designs, which is in the process of changing to another name, one which gives me the warm fuzzies. I make whimsical greeting cards using my illustrations, designs & photographs... handbags using vintage fabric...all kinds of jewelry.... small furniture...homemade tea....soap...herbal remedies....you name it. I write, too, which is another dream... Having a space specifically for art is really important to me. I picture a small barn, loaded with supplies, always a pot of coffee or tea on, with tables & extra chairs, folk music playing..art projects everywhere....where my friends can come at any hour to find some solace, work on a project, where my kids can remember spending rainy days (I don't have children yet, but the drive behind having my own business is them. I want them to have a "farm" lifestyle, no matter where we live...because as you said ...it IS a state of the heart. ) Thanks so much for asking!
