Hello Everyone:

My name is Genie and I live in Queens, New York. I was raised by a mom who grew up in the South and around a grandmother who grew up on a farm. Over the years, I have made trips to the country and and fell in love with it. But life happens and I had to stay here in NY to help take care of my family. I am hoping someday soon to go back to the country and stay. Maybe somewhere in South Carolina or Kentucky. I found Mary Janes book at the library and it was a answer to a prayer. Because of my grandma and mom, I grew up sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and doing similar things that Mary Jane does. I am also a self taught cook. I want so badly to live in the country. I hate New York City. I feel that I have out grown it and want to go somewhere what shoes you're wearing doesn't matter! Right now I'm looking for fabric scraps to finish my string quilt. I look forward to chatting with all of you and hopefully share your farmgirl stories and crafts. Thank you for welcoming me.

High Genie and welcome. I don't blame you for wanting out of the big city, I would much rather live in the country. I've heard though that NYC is an awesome place although I've never been. Anyways, again welcome to the forum.

Welcome to our forum. I loved NYC as a tourist, however, I could not keep up with the pace of that city.

I am glad you are here and when you "visit" it will take you to a place far away from the city.

Welcome Giovonnia! As Karen said, this is a great place to be for dreams of the country. I live in town, definitly not NY size, but I dream too of a farm of my own. Till then, we can dream together and keep country in our hearts! See ya round the forum! Simply, Julia

Welcome, I understand wanting to be free of the confines of the city. I lived in LA for a few years and all I could do is dream of my farm. Haven't gotten the farm yet but I'm finally out of the city. You'll enjoy it here, so many wonderful ladies all here to share their lives with eachother. Welcome!!!

Hi Giovannia!
Don't dispair: I lived in NYC for 15 years and although I am glad to live in Montana now, I learned a lot about life, food, ethnic diversity and inner strength during my NY years. I would not be able to earn a living in MOntana if I hadn't cut my professional teeth in New York. Hang in there...and take advantage of all that the city has to offer. It really is an amazing place!--Montana Gal
