Hello! My name is Libbie and I'm a central-Utah farmgirl. I feel like I "know" so many of you already from reading your posts, and it's about time I became part of this lovely group. Let me tell you a bit about myself - I'm a mid-thirties farmgirl living on about 17 acres on the edge of town and LOVING LIFE. I was a week-long apprentice/intern at MJ's farm this last August, and it has given me so much inspiration and information on how to get this show on the road down here. I have read so many interesting/touching/helpful posts on the topics here - hopefully I can add to it.

Hi Libbie! How are you? Have you been canning? While Libbie was here at the farm, we got to spend the day learning to can with Julie Bell and we sure had a grand time! And the pickled green beans were delicious. I think I ate a whole jar in one sitting. Libbie, I do hope you are doing wonderfully. And welcome to the forum!

Hello, ladies - thanks for the welcome -- Meg, I've been canning the devil out of everything that grows down here (OK - everything that doesn't need a pressure canner ). I also have my new garlics safely in the ground, as well. I can't wait until winter when things slow down a bit!

Jenny - Elsinore is just, oh, I'd say 10 miles southwest of Richfield along I-70. I'm just a 45-minute stone's throw from Manti! I'd love to join forces with your farmgirl group up there - we have another small (very, too!! ) farmgirl group here, also - maybe we could have joint adventures/farm tours?
Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes - I'm so glad to be part of the gang! A little more about me and my farm situation here. We have about 30 ewes (most of them expecting lambs in Feb. we hope), a few chickens - fewer recently due to a run-in with a raccoon, a dog, a cat and an adorable (if I do say so myself) 2-1/2 year old boy who calls himself "mama's little piglet." My oldest farmgirl friend, an 86-year-old ranch lady, has a Dexter cow that is due to calf any time now, and I'm going to try to start milking her as soon as I dare - I've not done that before, and neither has she!!!

I am so excited that you are so close!!!! WE will have to get together for sure..I love it!!!! I knew Elsinore sounded familiar..I have no doubt seen the signs when we go south. I tend to stay north of Gunnison..but do venture down that way from time to time. In fact..I was in Richfield on Friday.

Wow, Jenny, Richfield! That's just SO close to me! We WILL need to connect...
I LOVED the week at MJ's Farm - I learned so much and have some great "visions" to revisit when I'm feeling a little discouraged at the lack of (or rather, the slowness of) progress sometimes on my own little piece of paradise.
Lonestargal - the pickled green beans are truly yummy - I'll post the recipe on the "Kitchen" forum for y'all.
YAY! I just love this - I'm still in the process of meeting new friends in my own hometown, and this is such a welcome place to be...
