Hello to all!
I've just joined the Connection Community. I've read the "rules" in the Welcome Wagon and have also read many past posts and replies. Reading them, I feel like I already know Aunt Jenny and many others. Y'all are a hoot!
My daughters are frequent chatters on the Ty Beanie Baby site and have met wonderful new friends from all around the world. They "talk" to these friends daily. When I told them about this chat part of the Farmgirl site they encouraged me to sign up immediately and advised that I would "have so much fun".
Maryjane's book was my first introduction to her. Whatever I've missed in the past I feel that the book has certainly endeared my heart to her. That also means my heart is kindred with y'all, too. The book was a gift from my Moma (I know that I spell "momma" wrong......but it's right to me!
Let's see.....introductions..... I'm married to hunkman Jason and we have two beautiful girls aged 13 and 10. We homeschool, which is really a great excuse to spend all day outside with the animals and getting dirty. I grew up in LA on the banks of the Bayou Teche setting my crab traps each morning and feeding the animals before catching the bus. Now, living in Texas, I try to put as much farm life in our little patch of land that I can. My dream would be to have acres and acres of land with tons and tons of animals and crops. My daughters tell me that they're going to marry cowboys or ranchers and I can live in the barn and muck the stalls. That actually sounds really great!!
Okay, I can be wordy. This post is turning into a novel. Please advise me when my posts are too long.
Well, HELLO!! and I look forward to meeting y'all.

One of the best compliments from one of my daughters: "Moma, you smell good...like dirt."

Welcome Cajungal! I can't wait to hear more about your life and dreams. Retiring and mucking stalls, that's a great dream. Mind if I borrow it? Meggie, Emil, Kate, Lucas Lee, are you reading this?

Write away. We ALL have books in us!!! (Thanks for reading mine!)

WOW! What a great welcoming wagon y'all are.
MaryJane, my heart is Blessed by your warm reception. Thanks for taking the time.
Lori, we definitely have to talk, sher. What a small world. How cool it is to meet someone here that lives on the Bayou Teche.
Jan, thanks for your encouragement. It feels good to fit in.
Frannie, any poop counts as something! You just get extra points for mishaps like stepping in it, and bonus points if you're barefooted.
Meadowlark, thanks for commenting on your hunkman. Mine was a bit embarrassed when he read my post and saw what I called him. But, deep down I know he was thinking, "Yeah, I still got it".

Blessings!
Catherine

Hi Catherine from one Texas gal to another!!! DH and I too share your dream of ranching. We have 2 girls, 7 and 4 and I hope they each find a hunk of a cowboy and decide on the ranching life as well. You will fit in here for sure. The ladies (and a few guys) are wonderful here!!!

Hi Catherine! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! You will definitely have fun here and will make the best friends. When I finally found this place I felt like I'd come home -- these gals are the best!

Hi Catherine! Welcome!! I've been told I am spelling Momma wrong too. That it should be Mama. Well, I agree, it's right by me! And you sure aren't the only Moma/Mamma that dreams of someday living in the barn! Your daughters probably aren't looking just yet but there ain't nothing like a boy in a cowboy hat and mine (Lucas Lee) will be honored if my Momma lives in the barn someday!

Welcome Catherine! Glad to have you on board! I love the freedom that homeschooling offers too! We can have home-ec all day long like we did today, making lots of different candies for Thanksgiving, always my job. I always wanted to live in a barn! Julia V.
