Hi! I'm so excited to be a part of this chat room! I've never been on a chat room before, I guess I needed to find a chat room worth chatting on! I found Mary Jane's book a few weeks before moving from the city (salt lake) to the country (paradise). My city friends think I'm crazy that I left a successful business and a cute home in suburbia and the women here don't understand why I am so excited to be here! My husband is a firefighter and doesn't mind the 90 mile commute he says its worth it. And because of MaryJane's book I have been inspired to start several business ventures. Anyone out there a city turned country girl, or anyone from Utah?

I was a self employed hair stylist in downtown Salt Lake, so when I moved I didn't want a job working for someone else. I have an oversized mud room that I am going to turn into a salon. And I have a love for vintage aprons, so I have started making and selling them. My husband and I are going to care for horses and other farm animals for people when they are out of town. I am also going to start selling eggs, although I don't know where to start on that one. We have too many to eat for just us, and the neighbors are stocked up! Thanks for all the warm welcomes!!

Welcome Lolli! Glad to have you on board! I long for a country home, but My Dh wouldn't like a 90 mile drive. I'd love to have your extra eggs! See you around the forum! Simply, Julia V.

Hi Lolli, good luck with your endeavors. My excess eggs are give-aways right now, to friends and co-workers. I feed about three a day to the dogs as well. In the summer, we have a produce auction nearby, and if I have enough time I can go there and sell them. Barter is fun too, like for hay or plants or such. If you have a busy enough road, you could set up a cooler and an honor can next to it at the end of your driveway...sounds like you are gonna have loads of fun!
By the way, my dh drives 60 miles one way and doesn't mind one bit, he's been doing it now for 15 years, and coming home to peace and tranquility is worth it all.

Welcome Linda~
I've moved from Spokane to Moscow and I work in the country (out at the farm). It's such a change. My mom started her antiques sale (the farm chicks) and it's held in a small farming town. It's amazing pulling rural people together with the same interests. I love what my Mom and MaryJane do I hope some day to do something similar. More power to ya. Kate
