Here's my first attempt at making a quilt. I finally finished the top, now I have to get the backing, batting, decide on how I want to edge it and finish it.

HOW BEAUTIFUL!!! It looks very much like my first one-same type pattern. I used all blue and white. I will always treasure my first one-more than any other!!! Beautiful job!!!

That is beautiful!!! I want so badly to quilt, but I don't know how. I need to devote some time to learning.
Great job!

Thanks for all of your kind comments :) Purple is my favorite color, so of course that's what I chose for my project. Michele, I cut squares out of fabric, sewed them into strips, then sewed the strips together. I can't wait to get it all completed and onto my bed!

Diana it is so pretty! Love the purple! Now you are ready for MY favorite part of quilting..... the quilting! I adore hand quilting. I hate piecing!! I have been known to applique just to avoid piecing! LOL! How will you finish your quilt? By hand, tie or machine quilt?

Dana, I will either hand or machine quilt it..haven't decided for sure yet. But hubby got me an early Valentine present...a quilting and embroidery hoop with stand. It's a king sized quilt, so if I hand quilt it then it's going to take awhile!

A wise quilter once told me that a quilt is like a baby - it takes 9 months to complete by hand. It has been true for me. Of course, that does not take in to account the quilt tops folded and piled in my closet! One day. My last quilt was a commissioned whole cloth king size that I designed. A top full of tulips and butterflies and picket fences all white on white. It indeed took 9 months to quilt and I haven't picked up a quilt since. That's been almost 10 years!
