Hi I am new to this group, I have been a farmgirl all my life. I am an old 60's hippie and now I am just considered odd LOL.
Our family lives on 55 acres in rural Arkansas, we have 11 children I had 1 he had 2 we adopted 8 very abused and difficult children. We have 4 left at home it's been a real trip.
We raise horses have several belgians and quarter horses, mules donkey. We also have 3 cows, we milk our cows with a big family it helps so much. We also have chickens, and the usual "pets" dogs birds, fish, feret.
I love to sew, cook, bake, garden. I love reusing things and making do! I love the country life and I am looking forward to meeting others like me. |

Welcome from another "newbie". Your story reminds me of my friend who adpoted 3 abused children....her perspective is simalr to yours. raising abused children is rewarding and difficult at the same time. It is great that people like you give children the chance the deserve though...aren't the animals great for the children who have been abused, animals are the best therapists going !! Sounds like you will fit in well here. From the posts i have read and recived all of these farm girls are most welcoming and open....looking forward to learning more about you. peace,
Stacy Stacy

Hi Jan .. well, we are somewhat kindred spirits ... i do have ONE adopted daughter and i am a 'psuedo-hippie' .. definitely lived the free spirit life in the late 60's and early 70's .. (while at the same time working for the Federal Drug Administration and Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice) and well .. now that i'm 'on the farm' .. lots of those FREE SPIRIT ways are still with me!
Welcome to the Farm! xo, Frannie

Hello Janice! Where is Brockwell, AR? I live between Searcy and Heber Springs in White County, which is about an hour north of Little Rock. Welcome to the group! When I grow up can I walk in your footsteps? I was born at the tail end of 1969 and missed the whole hippy lifestyle, I always felt like I was born too late. My husband was born in 1957 so he did get to have that life and I fell in love with him cause he had such a wonderful presence about him. We have three goats with a baby due, one horse on the way also with a baby due, dogs, cats, rabbit, and chickens. I love living in the rural town here in Arkansas..population 660! Oh and we are concidered very odd here... I'm not sure why ;)
Hope you like the stay here! Cynthia

Welcome Jan! Sadly, I missed the hippie days, too, by about 20 years! I am also considered odd with my hippie farmgirl tree-hugging ways! It's the best way to be, isn't it?! What an amazing family you have. You farmgirls never cease to amaze me! I know people who cringe at the thought of taking in an abused dog, let alone abused children. Such wonderful people you must be! I hope you find lots of kindred spirits here and I can't wait to hear more about your life!
Much love, Laura |

Welcome Jan! One of the most precious things about this farm community here is that all the gals are so different and yet we have commong threads of interests and that bond of kindred spirit. You are guaranteed to have a great time here. Plus, we all look forward to hearing your stories and benefitting by your wisdom.
Blessings Catherine

| Hi Jan (from another Jan). Welcome, we're glad you're here. Wow...you sound like a very busy lady. I too am from the hippie era. Now I have a 23yr old hippie-wannabe daughter, 3 daughters in all. I certainly admire people who open their homes and their hearts to abused children. How blessed those children must feel. I look forward to hearing more from you. |
