I am Laurie, the newbie around here. I hope that I will be welcomed even though I don't live/own a farm YET. I dream, breathe, live farm in my urban home. We live in Toronto, Canada and I honestly think that I was born in the wrong place and century...lol
I am 37 years young, have two wonderful kids aged 6 and 9, and a mostly wonderful husband, and 2 dogs. I love to knit, quilt, bake, cook (well truth be told not always!) and I love to grow herbs, and I have a teeny tiny vegetable garden, and a couple of cut flower gardens. I love to create things out of other things, I am going to cram a greenhouse into my city backyard, and my home mostly on the inside has been renovated to look like a century old farmhouse. My favourite magazine is canadian home and country and I am looking forward to finding Mary Janes magazine, I loved her book! someday.....I will have my farm.
I can't wait to get to know everyone! Thank you for having me.

A warm, warm farmgirl welcome to you! I've learned everyone is welcome here...even if we are in the dreaming stages. I've learned so much from the farmgirls who are walking the talk, but also from those who are just starting to talk about the walk! This is a great forum, you'll be right at home. Pull up a chair, get out those knitting needles and gardening catalogues, put the tea on and come on in. You'll be glad you joined. Rebekah

Hello from a fellow faux farmgirl! It's so wonderful that you've been able to let your passion for the country shine through in your urban home. I also feel like I was born in the wrong place and century as do so many others here! It's great to find like-minded and like-hearted people to share with. I look forward to getting to know you better! Welcome!

Much love,
Laura

Thank you all for your warm welcome,I really enjoyed reading them and feel at home already. Truth be told I married a city boy and he's not moving for awhile. Until then I have to make do with what I have.
THis spring I am planning to build a small hobby greenhouse for our yard, our "d.i.n.k" neighbours will find it amusing I'm sure! lol but I can't wait to extend my growing season as in ontario there isn't a very long one.
I look forward to meeting you all on this wonderful forum
Kind Regards,
Laurie

Welcome Laurie - from one Canadian to another! I've had my subscription to Canadian Home & Country for 2 years...it's such a pretty magazine. And most of the stuff they feature in the magazine can be gotten in Toronto - you're so lucky! My baby sis lives out in T.O. Me, I'm on the other end of the country in Lethbride, Alberta. What do you grow in your vegetable garden? And in particular, what grows well out east? Potatoes, carrots and beans did really well for me last summer, but I couldn't grow cucumbers out here to save my life. Enjoy your time here with us farmgirls! :-)
