After 2 hours (so what were my boys doing in the meantime??!!) she had finally gotten her hair "Big" -- and wanted us to come home asap to see how it turned out...
ooohhh the joys of the '80's!!

Well, if you're a 'youngin', Chelsey, then I'm a wee infant...1989 here....lol. So yeah, missed the big hair thing by a few years.

I recently ran into a girl from high school and all I could remember about her was that she had the biggest hair back then. It literally fanned out five inches from her head and face. She still wears it long but it looked so much prettier naturally flowing over her shoulders.
We used to hold the hair out from the sides of our heads with a brush and coat it with hairspray. Our coach called it "woofing" our hair out. Oh! I never went anywhere without hairspray, even though I never did truly master big hair. I mostly looked like a poodle who put her wet nose in a light socket. Scary! But those old photos are certainly good for a laugh! |

Fairly big hair here, but I've worn it bigger. I'm on the right, my best friend on the left. This was taken on my 18th birthday back in 1982.

I'm April 22nd! I spent lots of dollars$$$$$ on perms! You were nobody if you did't have big hair in the 80's. Thank god the flat hair tiny jewelry nineties are over!Now big hair is coming back. |

Victoria--I did lots and lots of perms when I was a lot younger.ooh I just can't take the smell now..PU!! DH says I smell like rotten eggs..its the price you pay for look fabulous..hehe ;)

My hair was always short, very short. When I moved out of mom + dads house I decided I would grow my hair long. I used dippity do, and rolled it all on one medium size coffee can. I'm back to short hair but for 20 years. I had big, frizzy natural curley hair, it was fun.

Oh the joy of the 80's! Ripped jeans with red leggings underneath, flipped up collar, blue eye liner and BIG HAIR, Van Halen singing Panama on AM radio, sneaking down by the river and drinking cheap beer out of red keg cups (oh if momma only knew) that's how my husband remembers falling in love with me. Good times. Thanks for making me remember.
This is me circa 1988. My mother made me tone down the hair for senior pictures, but it's still pretty up there!

lol...Glad to hear it...at least then, my hairdos will finally be back in style..of course, when that fad passes, I will still have my do the same, but I will enjoy being "hip" at least for alittle while..LOL

I sprayed this down and used hot rollers to get it under control. I didn't want to look like a dork...lol ;)
But, you can imagine with this cut and without some taming what it can be like..;)

Cool Jessie, nice hair! I LOVE LOVE LOVE BIG HAIR!!! My hair is straight and is about 2 inches past my shoulders. Have bangs and sometimes I wear them straight and other times I push them over to the side. What I try to do is tease it up in the back and it looks great but I can't find any hairspray that will hold my hair real long. Girls, any recommends for really strong hold hairspray???????

hehe Carol.....AQUA NET is tried and true. It is stinky for sure, but that goes away. I used to wear my hair really big in the front and thats the only thing that would hold it in place.The wind wouldn't dare have moved a strand...lol
