I love hankies and won't be caught without one. I have lots so I can color match them with what I have on. Special one's for whatever the Holiday or event. I always have one to spare, just in case someone sheds a tear. A tissue is just thrown away, but a hanky is their memory that someone cared at the moment. One sister in law loves to lay on my bed and go through them (I have over a 100 I'm sure) and I always let her pick her favorite to keep. Who else has them and what do you do with them? Smiles, Melody June

I love hankies. I only have a couple, as I have pretty good allergies and I don't want to ruin them. I mostly have my hankies for church or such. I love going to the antique shops or thrift stores and finding them with their beautiful lace edgings and sometimes sweet embroidery. :)
I would love to see a pic of your collection! :D hugs

| I love the old hankies. I have some but they are packed away right now. I used some of them with a quilt to make stockings for my grandkids one year. I do like to carry one in my purse. Ok , this is a little funny. I guess it could fit into the you might be a farm girl catagory, except it concerned my dad and little sister. My dad ALWAYS has a cotton hankie in his pocket. When my sister was about three or four they took her to six flags and she got so excited or scared ( which I don't know) that she had accidents in her undies and the spare pair too. So my dad used his hankie to make her some undies until they got home. I thing he tied the sides up. She just turned 39 and we still tease her about it. LoL She gets a kick out of the memory. |

I'm just starting my collection of hankies. I'm making curtains for my MaryJane room with them!

I love hankies too. For show because when needed I use tissues ;) I have my grandmommie's hanky and I am happy to have found it just recently :)

I use them all the time...I always have one in my apron pocket, my purse, my overalls pocket, any jacket or sweater pockets...they get used all the time. I do have a few extra special ones that I keep put up, but most get used all the time. I like them so much better than tissues.

I love the look of them, but don't use them. I have a lot of my Grandma's, they are very special to me. Many of them I gave to her for her birthdays or Christmas. She always carried them. There are are so many from when she was a young girl and later when she married my grandpa.

When I was a little girl my great grandmother would give me a hanky with a dime tied up inside of it. I used to think how silly those hankies were. Of course I loved the dime because at that time I could buy a candy bar with it. How I miss all my hankies and I hope my mom has some of them packed away in her attic. I've been thinking for awhile how wonderful it would be to frame several and hang them along my stairs.

| I love hankies. I have a bunch that were my great grandma's and other female family member's. I use a few of them for nose-blowing, especially in the wintertime, but the nicer ones that are embroidered I do not use. I have heard of people framing them, sewing them into quilts, etc. etc. My mom bought me a apron made with hankies: It was made with three matching ones; one in the middle; one cut crossways and the two resulting triangles sewn onto the sides of the middle one, and the third one cut in half and sewn onto the bottom in a ruffle. It ties with a grosgrain ribbon. I don't use it, though; it is far too old and collectible. |

I absolutely love hankies. Couldn't tell you how many I have. I find them in thrift stores mostly. Glad I'm not alone :)

I would be lost without my hanky's. When I use them in public, some one always has something nice to say about them. Thrift stores are a great place to find them
how sweet it is to love some one, how right itis to care |

Yep! I have a small collection. I pick them up at yard sale, thrift stores and such. I know that when I use them I won't end up with tissue fuzzies on the end of my nose!

| i have a collection of some...i love the lace and monograms, etc. but i have very bad allergies certain times of the year and won't use them then (for all the gunk coming out of my head---what a delightful picture!), but they are so sweet to use for those "sentimental tears", like at weddings. |

I am just starting to get into using hankies and would love to particapate in a Hankie Swap. Would anyone else like to do that? What size is best? Best fabrics? I have some fine, soft cotton that I bought to embroider the corner of the hankies. It would be wonderful to have a collection.

I use my hankies all the time! I always have one in my pocket or purse. I even got the fella using them - though his are a manly grey or black. Most of mine are vintage, and I learned the hard way that they all need to be hand washed in the sink after use ;) My nose likes them much better than kleenex too.
Most people never comment on my hankies, but I always do notice when other folks use them.

I love hankies. I'm a softie, and they are so important to have at graduations and other tear-jerking moments. Sometimes I laugh so hard I cry too, and here comes my hankie! They make me smile at how old-fashioned they are. But darn it, they are practical, and so much prettier than a tissue. I tend to frazzle paper tissues into balls if I try to keep one in a pocket/purse. I'll pull it out and poof, it's shredded. Not my hankie! So soft and pretty, and it doesn't mind being held at all. I don't carry one with me all the time, but I ought too.
We make a difference. |

| Yes! I have several in my purse at all times. I love finding them at estate sales - my favorite are the red and white valentine ones. |

I use them all the time. Sometimes I tie one to the handle of my purse as a decoration, especially if it is printed and the purse a solid color. Other times it's just inside the purse. I get them from estate sales.

| I like hankies, too! They remind me of my grandma who always carried one in her black purse that clipped closed. (She never had one that zippered.) |

Oh I use hankies. I like them better than tissues. I have a lot of my grandmother's that she put edgings on. I also have some I have picked up at shops. A.C. Moore has them here. I get them because they are a bit sturdier than the older ones that I have.

I pick up a hanky (old if possible) every time I go on a trip. When I get enough I plan to make them into a quilt top. They will get folded like a butterfly and appliqued onto a square. I will embroider the place I got the hanky and the date on the square also. So far I have about 5-6 saved up and will add another one whenever I go somewhere special.

I love hankies! Unlike most of you girls, though, I don't have any of those great old hankies - I only have the ones I've made for myself. I go the JC Penny and buy a bulk pack of mens hankies (in the dress shirt section), bring them home and embroider my own little designs on the corners. They work well, wash well (since the embroidery cotton washes just like the hankie cotton) and better still, I can put what I want on them. My daughter loves a cartoon character named Pucca, so when she was sick last year I whipped out a new hankie with Pucca's head on the corner and did that ever make her smile! I would love to find some old beautifully printed hankies or those with the lace bits around the edges, but haven't been that lucky yet!
