I recently painted a room pink and white. I added black accents to it for glam and haven't really been satisfied with it. After going to BBB, I think I've found that room's signature look....MaryJane style. I have a ton of quilts that the hubster's Granny quilted, and moved my sewing stuff in there. I love the look of thread, quilts, quilt blocks, and yes, the glam all inter-mixes together. I found an old chair at my dad's and placed a couple hand made dolls on it. I'm in the process of collectin hankies to make some sheer curtain panels for three very long windows. Any other suggestions for my MJ room?

On a side note, I have a small (microscopic) room that I use for writing for scrapping. I've turned that into my Farmgirl room. Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed.... anyhow it's done in denims and dark reds with sunflowers and blue insulators. I'm loving it!

Dawn, your room sounds so pretty.

I think I've been decorating in MaryJane style long before I knew it was MaryJane style. I have loved quilts all my life and learned to make them a number of years ago. It sort of looks like you stepped back in time at our house.

I've been thinking of mounting a collection of pretty plates on the wall in the master bedroom. That might look nice in your room too.

Happy decorating!

Why Jeannie, how sweet of you! What a kind thing to say.... thank you.

Joyce: The plate thing: what a wonderful idea! I always like seeing those pictures, but haven't done it. I also have a lot of crystal (family heirlooms) that I dont know what to do with. I saw a pic where they glue patters together in a tiered cake stand type thing with a teacup or something at the top. Maybe I'll try that. I need to put the room pics on my blog.

How about some bandanas in your farmgirl room I see them all the time and try to figure out some thing wonderful to make with them. Dark blue and red ones.

I decorated "vintage" or "farmgirl" way before I discovered MJF also. Everything in my house is vintage, antique, homemade, thrift store, yard sale, or dumpster-discovered! I love it! I like to use vintage or vintage-inspired painted furniture in my farmgirl decorating. I also love to use vintage textiles an linens, rugs, and window treatments.

Dawn: Don't forget to use things YOU like too. I have farmgirl style too but some things I just can't get rid of, like favorite stuffed animals or dolls, old linens, canning jar lamps filled with old buttons, kitchen crock filled with rolling pins, another small crock filled with child and doll rolling pins. My collection of small rp started with one my husband used when he was a child (he's now 71). It's fun to use pretty china and crystal to put things in. Special fabric under things and tiny picture frames filled with antique photos.
Good luck and have fun. Mary Jane sure started something wonderful!
