I'm so happy to be here! My name is Sue, aka, GrammyGoose or GG. I was raised on a 5 acre farm in Speeceville, PA, about 20 miles north of the state capitol of Harrisburg. Although our farm was not big, it was mighty! My dad made the mistake of planting an entire acre of tomatoes the first year we moved there and from that point on, he won't even look at a tomato plant. We supplied the local hospital, nursing homes, soup kitchens as well as our extended family, friends and perfect strangers with truck loads of tomatoes that year. LOL!
My dh and I have just put an offer on 15 acres right down the road from my dd and her family. They have 40 acres, about half in corn, the rest is wooded. We are planning on building a yurt to live in until we can get our log cabin built. In case you have never heard of a yurt, here's a picture of one. Exterior:
 Interior
They can be constructed in 2-3 days and provide about 900 sq. ft (or is that round feet?) of living space.
I am looking forward to meeting you all, learning, sharing and just plain having fun. Well, I'm off to read until my eyes are crossed! Be blessed! GG |

Welcome to the Farm GG! :D Glad you are joining us. 15 acres sounds just wonderful, but I have to tell you, the Yurt looks like it would be a blast to live in ...just for a while. Hope you have fun here!! hugs

Hi Sue, Welcome on board. The yurt is cool and we have looked at them from time to time. The log cabin sounds really great. My dad has one on his property that is about 150 years old. He uses it for a barn. The new log cabins are so warm and inviting. The tomato story is funny. We did that with okra one year. Hope they take your offer.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome!! I'm happy to see some PA farmgirls here. Every day is a beautiful day in Pennsylvania! Today I am working on some pocket tissue covers for a swap on a craft mb that I've been a member of forever. Of course, I put it off until the last moment, I work better under pressure...yeah, right! LOL!
I've been trying to find out more information on a recipe that someone mentioned for Endless Chicken Pot Pie (at least I think that's what it was called). Can anyone help me out with that?
Thanks again for making me feel at home. I'll be happy to share my adventures into "yurt-dom" with all of you. I am so looking forward to it myself!
Make it a good day, no matter what life throws at you. Be Blessed!

| Welcome! The yurt looks like fun. My nephew and his wife lived in a yurt in Washington for a couple of years and loved it. |

Sue, are you meaning bottomless chicken pot pie? And I used to live in Reading (well, actually Blandon), so we were neighbors!

Jessie Mae, I think you're right. I knew something didn't sound right. LOL. Yep, it's bottomless chicken pot pie. Do you know where I can get the recipe?
Blandon, that's over near Gilbertsville and Oley, isn't it? I used to go down to Grandview Speedway every weekend in our motorhome and then travel through all the little towns in that area on Sunday on our way home. I know I've been through Blandon at least once. |

Yep, Oley is only about 10 minutes from Blandon! Blandon is so small most people have never heard of it. I think Fleetwood is the closest city on the map. I've got that recipe at home, I know it...just can't remember if it was in the Lifebook or in the kitchen issue of the old magazine. I'll look it up for you when I'm done with work.
